judging by the number of wires.....they probably wired it like the Pro pickups.

i've been meaning to post a blurb up on my experience with my MIDI Wal up in the Wal page but haven't gotten a chance to....thought it would benefit others with Midi Wals don't feel hopeless if their frets are bad....
ya, so i got mine from a guy from germany about 2-3 years ago and he didn't disclose to me the frets were super worn down.....
it worked ok and was still fully functional - perhaps not as responsive as i thought it should be, but still worked "ok"..... playing it as a standard bass felt mediocre at best - especially the areas where its very worn down.
did a bit of research.... even asked Paul but he didnt' really respond to part of the email with my quieries....usually when i email Paul its a journal LOL......so i figured he didn't have the resource to do the MIDI refret......so i then emailed Steve Chick Industrial Radio
He was actually really helpful and pleasant to deal with it. He did pointed out that if i did refret this and if my MB module ever broke down, the parts in the module were all obsolete, so i'd be SOL. I was fully aware and wanted to proceed. He had never done a Wal refret before but welcomed the challenge.....so i sent him the neck. It did take a bit more than was was quoted, but being the first time they had a Wal neck in the shop - I remained patient. A couple months later viola!!!
His new standard with his MIDI basses are angled split frets. They did a great job on the neck an i'm really happy on how things turned out!
My last resort if Steve wasn't able to do any of this was abandoning the MIDI and converting it to a regular bass...but its all good and plays like a new build!!!

That’s, awesome Kulit. Looks like you trust your kids with that Wal sitting in the play room. Lol. I usually have gates all around mine to keep the buggers out.

lol..... i keep all of them in cases. i keep the one's i'm using in rotation hanging up on the Wall's.... but ya i have my kids well trained in respecting my gear....besides if they want to beat on things, i have a electronic drumset and their own guitars too f' up lol. although i never leave an instrument alone with my 2.5 y.o. lol
this was last year when he was 1.5 y.o.

The frets are split for the midi system: each of the frets sections are wired underneath the fingerboard; it works like keys on a synthesizer. you fret a note is like pressing a key on a synth.

ProIIe in new finish. Originally clear, trans white in the 80's, now trans blue. Poor paint job around pickup selector but it is too traumatizing to discuss

Perhaps you can cover it up with a pick up selector switch washer, simular to the one on a les paul

Neck has the original clear coat.
I looked for the right size washer but couldn't find one. It's beveled out there so the Les Paul thing may not work but worth a try. It doesn't bother me anymore so, being lazy, I'll ignore it.
The bass is all original except for refinishes and new pots Pete sent me.
Also is the last JG SN listed. If it had a leather scratch plate it'd be even cooler. Has my favorite neck profile
