Wal Bass Club.

So I'm thinking of installing some black Schaller M4S Lights on my current Mk2. When my new build comes in I'll put them on the new Wal so that I won't have to pay another upcharge for the black hardware. I've got enough already. ;)

After having a look at the Mk2, looks like one of the pole pieces has been filled with rust over time, preventing me from adjusting it's height. Is there any safe way to clean that out? I don't want to damage this Wal.

you mean the chrome....why yes....:roflmao:

Wal only uses M4S lights now since the standard ones are no longer available. Probably in a couple months you'll be asked if you want the lights with the smaller ears or go with Grovers with the standard sized ears. If you go Grovers, you wont be able to switch to schallers and vice versa.

As far as the pole piece, it was set at decent height so i didn't bother messing with it, besides the only time i used the bass was mainly for MIDI, but ya if you need to adjust, Caca's recommendation is spot on!

Oh also, if you dont get the black hardware upcharge....with your plan, the other thing you have to consider is the black tuners and chrome string tree combo.....if its something you'd be ok with that "fits" visually

Yes I received the email from Philip a while back. However I meant installing those M4S Lights on the Midi bass until my brand new Mk2 arrives, then swapping the tuners on the basses. I know the ones currently on the Midi are Schallers but I'll have to measure them to make sure I don't get the wrong ones. Also, yes I'm going to order a black string tree with the tuners so that it can all match.
I cleaned out the pole piece, it was more of a "just in case" thing. I left it at the same height.

So, how do you like your new Mk2, LowEndHum? This is your first?

Yes I definitely am loving this Wal! It is my first. First, I thought I was going to have trouble adapting to the playability of the neck, but the change was instant. It's a chunky neck for sure, but it's very comfortable! The V shape on the neck is subtle but it's nice. It's hard to tell in photos, but the body is smaller than most basses and made the neck look very thick.
I read that a lot of people, once plugging in their first Wal, didn't like the thick woody tone and the "non Geddy/Tool sound" you get initially. That wasn't my first thought, since I do love thick bass tones. It takes a while to get those tones, so you'd better work for them.

I have a lot more good things to say about this bass, but I'll just leave it since you all already know the excellence of one.

No, no, no... gush like a hole in the Hoover Dam! Tell us everything.

How are you finding the filters? Got to grips with them yet? Did I mention the sticky thread on the FB Page with lots of folks fave settings to try out?

They simply rang the doorbell, left the box on the doorstep and walked away.

Oops did that to me with a .44 magnum revolver I sent out for repair.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked up the sidewalk later and saw it leaning against the door, "adult signature required" sticker and everything...

I find some threads here on TB very entertaining. Especially the current 'do you gig your #1 or take a beater'.

I bought them to work with, and they get used regularly. Why wouldn't I?

Considering how much we spend on these things you gotta take em out. We stand above the rest. How many gigs do you see where the guy/gal is playing a Wal? I’ve never seen one actually! I do however keep a watchful eye over my gear. We are usually on a multiple band bill and end up hanging out most of the night.

I'm with you on this although I do tend to be more selective about the venue I use them at like posh society gig or weddings where they are least likely to be in peril...sometimes anyways!
