I know I asked a ton of questions over the years about Wal basses but I must say all the options on this bass I added were well worth every cent, including the trip to collect it in person. But the best part of this is the gloss body, which at first I was lamenting the price. Once I realized that the gloss basically preserves the state of the body for it's entire lifetime, it was more peace of mind than anything. In the end the zebrano stripes appear more striking to me in gloss than satin.

Every time I see a gloss black Wal with gold hardware I always think of plating my chrome . I haven't researched, but I would guess this is the cheaper option vs. buying the hardware from Paul.
There should be a warning about this club for how much bass porn is going on within. You all are very lucky!

Do you find they have plenty of low end, especially on the low B (if you have a 5/6'er)? I can't rightly tell from the videos on youtube.

There is actually a low-cut trimpot for each pickup in the control cavity. However, if there's one downside to the way the Wal filter EQ works, it's that you can't bump up the lows if needed without totally changing the rest of the EQ. If you find that you want more lows, then you'll have to do it at your amp.
I agree. Sometimes I miss just having simple bass and treble controls on a Wal. The filter knobs are great but they make it somewhat harder to dial in or adjust a sound. I mostly play on the bridge pickup and if I miss some lows I blend in a little bit of the neck pickup. If I need more highs I use the pick attack knob. I don't use the filter knob pulled up a lot.
So last night was a bit of a surprise...my wife told me to go order a new Wal for my 50th Bday (in June)...she is going to put the deposit money down as my gift. I should see it when I'm 53!! Hahaha. (she should have told me when I was 47!)... Anyway...been picking spec's...think it's been narrowed down. If anyone has some pointers either mention it here or PM....greatly appreciated.

For this, I use an ISP Beta Bass Preamp Pedal, the para-mid eq's work for me.
***EDIT*** This works for me, may not work work for others.
I think the hardest part isn't their availability, it's having $8K handy and ready to pounce. They come up used every month...but if you don't jump on it, there's a line up behind you, of guys that are ready too.
As for low end..I've got tons to spare...and I agree with some of the other comments..there are a lot of giggle switches to fiddle with...but that's what makes it awesome. (I also have passive P's, also great...but nothing comes close to the b@lls of these basses).
OK so they don’t work like a standard 2 or 3 band EQ but never ever found a problem with lack of bass extension. You just find it in a different way. I think of it like using subtractive EQing rather than additive. I’ve found some fantastic dubby reggae tones in my Mk 1. Neck at 2, Bridge at 7, 75% Neck mix will give you plenty of bottom end. Pull up the neck pickup filter for dub with definition... used this a lot in the covers band when we did some Marley or Roxanne or Dreadlock Holiday or Madness’ It Must Be Love.
