Wal Bass Club.

Well, barring any unforeseen issues with shipping, I'll finally be a Wal bass owner of a fretless MK2 4 string! However, with it being unlined, I have every intention of getting it fretted once stateside.

A couple of questions:

What diameter are the top dot inlays on the MK2 fretboard?

I've always been a fan of SS frets. Stew Mac's "Jumbo" size looks like a good option (Width 0.110" (2.79mm), Crown 0.053" (1.35mm)). What fret size is used by the factory?

congrats! hope it lands safely!! not sure if its right, but measuring one of my dot inlays with my cheapo digital caliper, it measured at 0.230ish (6mm)

i do think however that a clean top fretboard looks super sexy!

Congrats!

My first Wal was a fretless converted to fretted with stainless frets, it turned out an absolute killer! I don't know the size, I think they were just mediums(?)
I too prefer the clean look of no dots, and would highly recommend thinking of just leaving it that way. I'd say 40% of the Wals I've owned have been no dots. I also had a walnut Mk2 that was a fretted conversion and looked beautiful with that clean black ebony.

Just about to go through the process as well and my thinking is the same...from what i understand once the first deposit is made a more detailed order form in which to communicate some specs is sent to you. Then next deposit made once neck begins being built.

Just specify it as best as you can in an email. I did the same, and on my invoice / build sheet it referenced the email correspondence by date. Those guys are way on the ball with that stuff!! I sent them pics of shapes that worked best for me, and they said they would get as close as possible without compromising neck stability. :)
