Not really a big fan of the Cranberries....(i do admit listening to them back in the day :hiding:), but just stumbled on a video where the bass player is playing a nice Mk II lots of close up throughout the vid which i thought was cool!!



just figured it'd be nice eye candy for some :bassist:

gotta love this sillouette though!!!!

I always liked that band (and Dolores' solo stuff), he's been playing them the whole time. I remember the MkII and III, and he had another one early on, a weird MkI modded body with two J pickups. What I also remember about that MkI from back in the dudepit days, was someone asked Pete Stevens about it and Pete flew off the handle ranting on why would someone mod one of his babies.

I remember reading something somewhere about that bass. But im sure it was Mike talking about it. From what i can recall and watching this vid again, is the only thing Wal on that bass is the neck.

Body-Def not born a Wal body. Plus you would either see gaps or wood fill where the orig p/u's would have been.

P/U's-Obviously Jazz style and prob wouldnt hook up with Wal's circuitry

Both of my Wals had DREAMY necks to play. If i were to make a "Frankenbass" i would def have no probs putting a Wal neck on it....as im guessing Mike did.

Im sure Pete has been asked at one time or another on how he felt someone "moding" one of his basses. But i would guess that he wasnt asked about this particular bass, because of the body/bridge/p/u's

When I was checking out the bass, I talked to the seller and mentioned basschat and talkbass to him, since he only had it on a (in my opinion) rather ****** site in austria.

I also mentioned to him that you guys on here said that 2500€ is a really great price and some of you said you would buy it in an instant. It also was the cheapest of the three Wal Mk1 fretless around currently, so I guess these are all reasons for the price now.
