Wal Bass Club.

That is quite the amazing walnut I've ever seen! Love the figuring in that.

I use Mesa! Large or small rig (tube or solid state) I love the tone of Mesa along with Wal.
Thank you. This color scheme was on the top of my WAL list and I was amazed to find it here on TalkBass.
Being a first responder has many advantages..
That’s an amazing collection of gear you have there..

You’re quite right, I stand corrected. They were mince pies. There may have been shortbread stars if I remember correctly. It’s hard to tell; I was entirely dazzled by the Wal!
shortbread sounds about right too - gotta love visiting the family at Xmas time! Hope you are still enjoying the Wal. I am moving in a different direction hence putting up a lot of my basses for sale.

There are a couple of Wals for sale in the International classifieds from the same seller as I bought mine from. I did a double-take on one of them as its facings look so similar to those on mine! Lovely basses.

you should do a double take on MkII v MkIII ;)

Thanks Mike. I had sellers remorse after selling you mine

I’m absolutely loving the Wal, thank you. You can be assured that it’s gone to an appreciative home. I’m glad you were able to fill the gap too.

I’ve been lucky enough to play some lovely basses but the Mk3 is my number one.

Thanks again for the nice Christmas bass catch up and best of luck on the new direction.

Honestly, I did at least a triple take. It’s uncanny.

Paul is offering me either the new Schaller Lites for my Mk1, or a set of Grovers that are more like the vintage Schallers. I do like the look of the more vintage tuners over the Schaller Lites...but is the weight going to be a deal-breaker? How strong is the neck-dive on a Mk1 with the old-school tuners? Thanks so much.

I have one of each (one is a fretless) and the one with the vintage "elephant ears" doesn't neck dive for me. I would go with whatever you enjoy looking at.
I will add though that the body I have with the vintage tuners is a little heavier... the whole bass is a smidge over 10 lbs so the balance could behave differently with a lighter body wood.

IME, Go for Schaller lites..... if you don't dig it or if the looks doesn't grow on you, you could always wait and find someone that is selling a set of standard M4S. They swap out easily..... With the grovers....once you chose that, there's no going back since it's mounted alot differently than the Schallers with screws. I did grovers with one of my builds and regretted it.....

I would always go for convenience over looks. So Schaller Lites for me.
