Well the time is getting closer for me. I just reached out to confirm final payment and where about mine is in the finished process. I was July 2020 with a new year expected finish date. I told them not to rush as there has been a whole lot going on late last year but should be very close.

thanks for your detailed reply Mike. I think I will just accept that it is just one of those things that happens sometimes. I would email Wal but given that both of my previous emails to them have both been unanswered(sent months ago), I dont think I shall bother banging my head against that particular brick wall again.

That is an interesting situation for that bass. The cavity cover seems to be the most correct with regards to specs.
However the neck plate has the newer number. Yep, could be any reason for why that happened. Probably just a cool story and who knows maybe Paul could get you or the new owner a neck plate to match the cavity cover.

When you say "I was July 2020" do you mean that's when you first placed your order with deposit, or that's when you first reached out to Paul about placing an order?

Reason I ask is, I just remembered I had filled out a website inquiry form about placing an order back two-and-a-half years ago, when Wal was still saying they weren't accepting new orders...and I found the email reply from Paul saying "We have added you to the waiting list and will contact you when we can accept orders" ...but that was the last I've heard. That was October 2021.

Just wondering if that's typical time-wise.

(tbh if/when Paul does get back to me I'm not sure I'll go through with it; been starting to think of downsizing my bass collection due to recent life events these past two years. otoh, not sure I wouldn't be kicking myself for all my remaining years if I passed on an opportunity to get a new Wal!)

I filled out the same form and received the same email. I'm guessing that if I'm to hear from Paul, it won't be for another year or two.

I scanned back, and it looks like May 11 '21 is when the window closed.

What’s the best amp to go with the wal in everyone’s opinion? My wal is out to ship, I look forward to trying with my gk 800rb and mesa road ready 4x10 cab. I notice a lot of mesa in this thread.

I have nothing but Mesa rigs.

But I have owned plenty of GK heads and they go great on Mesa cabs and Wal basses.

Can never go wrong with Wal GK and Mesa. I actually put my Wal through a tonehammer head and a Barefaced cab and it’s pretty great. Experiment and find out.

I use a Subway D-800 and an old Fender Bassman 100, both sound dope with the Wal. I've also had a fridge setup with a first edition SVT-II and a normal 810, also sounded great.

I also run a Mesa setup; a Subway D-800 Plus into a Subway 1x12 cab and it sounds awesome.

Genzler Magellan 800, Mesa 410 and an Audiokenisis Hathor 1505.....way overkill. (bassment use only).
Then on the main floor, I have a GK Fusion 800 with a Bergentino 112 - ....I think I may have a problem.

It's like anything else. If you have a good rig, the Wal will shine through it. If you have a generally crappy rig, it won't sound as good. Not to be a party pooper but it's pretty much the same rule as with any instrument.
