Turns out the pickup cavity isn’t grounded to the control cavity. Was that normal for these basses at the time?Anyone got a wiring schematic for a passive 1982 Pro 1? I’ve got some grounding buzz…

It’s a converted Pro Mike.Odd, the burst one doesn't have forearm & belly contours.

Remember mine is a passive Pro 1, so only the little scratch plate over the control cavity.I'm not sure since buzz was never an issue for the Pro basses I used to own, but it wouldn't surprise me - there was a lot of curious design & engineering going on with those instruments (like how the pots were hard-mounted to the underside of the scratch plate).

Hi Mike. I thought you’d guess in the end!Coldchisel,
Now I 'see' who you are! I recognize these bass pictures from many years ago.
That single pickup fretless I remember asking you about it probably way back in 2017-ish. I had a plan with Paul about building me a single pickup in the Musicman position, but with the four normal functioning preamp knobs. With our plan he built me a Mk1 and a Mk3 4 strings this way.
Did you see that Steve Chesney has a drop dead gorgeous lefty Mk3 4 string for sale on facebook? So what would it be worth in "fine" condition?
Very cool. Were there any pictures of what's inside? I'm a no-fb-having troglodyte.New Wal cases.
With the closing of Hiscox and not knowing when they'll be up and running under new ownership in Europe rather than England, seems Paul moved onto another case maker, Gator.
Someone on Insta received their new build with the new case.

Can someone explain why Wals are 7000 dollars? How much better than a different bolt on bass can they be
You found a Wal for $7000? I’ll take 2 please! Can someone explain why Wals are 7000 dollars? How much better than a different bolt on bass can they be
Case wise, I sorta had something up sleeve I never posted about.
A couple of years ago, Hiscox posted a blonde case was available to special order (un-branded). One of my Mk2's needed a case so I was going to order, but my wife jumped in said to let her order, and she'd make it a Christmas present that year.
9 or 10 months went by and into the next year, a box finally showed up from UK. She talked Paul into getting me a branded blonde case! And along with that, the Mk1 I had on order also at that time got the other case.
I dont know if I got the only two or if Paul had another, but now rare.
