I'd just wait til another Wal comes then.

Can not be repaired aesthetically to a level that would be commensurate with the quality of the instrument
So what would it be worth in "fine" condition?
Very true. There’s been a lefty MkII 5er on Bass Direct for a while: WAL Mark II 5 Custom (1989) - Left Handed, Yew facings five string bass: FOR SALE, On offer, UK, Birmingham, EU, Second Hand Guitar Stock :: Bass Direct :: Warwick, London, Manchester USAI'd just wait til another Wal comes then.

Simply FYI.
Many of you will be aware of my ongoing quest to try and make a Wal-ish bass with Fender body/neck dimensions. I have made a couple of videos now. The latest iteration is getting a bit closer...or so I think...though not close enough my my tastes yet.
If it is of interest, here is the latest video. I do a direct comparison to my Wal in the recording.
I saw that one..... want a 4 and certainly want fretted.... and that is THE entire market for lefties!
You right handed folks have it too easy!!!
Agreed.Saw that. I'd need to see some solid provenance on some of the claims made on this one used to justify the price, for example it was used for recording Blood Sugar Sex Magic and over 49 other albums, with only evidence given is you may see a black Wal in some Chili Peppers music videos. I think I'm gonna need a signed letter from Flea or the album's producer for that kind of premium on an old Mk1.
Blood Sugar Sex Magik was done on a Mk2, and it was blue with a natural neck. And Flea still owns it.
Watch the Funky Monks documantary.
Wow nice call. The documentary is up on YouTube. Can't see the color (it's B&W video), but (starting at 23:50) the body style looks Mk2 and the paddle is natural and not black like the Reverb one. Doh!
Not sure if this has already been noted: Wal MK-1 Mark 1 - 4 string 1984 Gloss Black | Reverb UK
