Double Bass Walking around with a bass under the rain?

I just got to California and I come from a place that doesnt rain at all, it drizzles at most and you cant even feel it so taking my bass on gigs there was easy. Now Im here and its been raining this week and I need to take my bass out, what do you guys do? my first time out I covered it in trash bags but it turned out nasty cuz all the rain would accumulate and then pour like a faucet. Some people told me to just take it as is on its gigbag and a little of water wont hurt the bass... I dont know if I should do that or what I can do.

Most cases are water resistant, but I'm hip. I've had to go out in the downpour a couple of times and, unlike the rest of the country, I'm generally using the subway to get to gigs and don't have the option of driving right up to the front door and unloading. I've been hoping that ONE of the bass accoutrement manufacturers or one of the catalog retailers would make something like a Link Removed for basses that you could snap on and off over your regular case.
I've done the garbage bag wrap, but that just gets you to the gig. They don't tend to have garbage bags and tape and scissors and crap at the gig for me to wrap back up to get home.

Lemme know if you find anything workable.

i live in northern germany, it´s raining often here. i applied impregnation spray on my bass bag. hope it gives me the critical 10 minutes more with the bass in the rain before the bass gets wet
