I just got a Badwater. I like how it sounds as an always-on pre with a low gain and blend; just a hint of texture and chunkiness. I didn't have too terribly much noise/hiss from it even at extreme settings on the hi mid and treble, but I haven't used the DI out, yet.
The sin for me was the clicking popping footswitches. I emailed Walrus about it so I'll see what they say. I tried all kinds of combinations of pedals, power supplies, basses, anything I could think of to rule out the pedal.
I have a $35 distortion pedal that switches silently. My Wampler Phenom and Triumph are noiseless, too.
If it's a broken/bad unit, how the hell did clicks/pops so obvious get past any kind of even half-assed QC? lol
I hope it's not a case of "this is just how it is" because of mechanical bypass switching. Even when I turn off the amp, I can hear a click inside the pedal itself like the switches are activating a relay. I can press the switch as quietly/softly as possible, and as soon as the switch actuates there's a click.
