Walter Woods Repair needed / contact info.

The downside is Walter is a one-man operation and he's now prolly in his late 70s. What happens when he is no longer able to work on the amps? If he was on vacation for two weeks at a time or longer, you wouldn't hear from him until he got home. From what I understand, there are no part numbers on the components used and no schematics are available - by Walter's design. I can understand that way of thinking BEFORE all the other companies making class D amps, but now they're everywhere. It took a long time for all the other MFR's to catch up to WW!! I remember emailing GK years ago and inquiring about making a WW type amp. At that time, GK had a little micro amp, but it was only 150W. I'm sure I was not the only one requesting a small high powered amp. I think (not sure) GK was among the first companies to come up with a high powered micro head. Just my $0.02.

For what it’s worth there is a company in Berlin that does repairs on Walter Woods amplifiers and, I believe, has produced schematics for most of his designs. Invalid Link Removed

I just got off the phone with Walter had a very enjoyable conversation as I always do when I speak with him.
In fact I just ordered a second amber light.
As far as future repairs go he assured me he has a plan set up.
Also he can still repair the MI400-8 it’s one of the 225s but he is looking into a replacement part for this.
He is in good health and spirits and doing well.

This is so good to hear! I always thought Walter would have a plan in place.
I’ve been using various models of his amps for over 20 years. He lives about a mile from where my mom used to live and I had the great fortune of visiting his home workshop several times. He is one of the most interesting human beings I’ve ever met and I wish him many more years of good health.

Orphan gear. My Steinberger was my only bass from 1986 until 2003, when I was coming home from a kind of sketchy gig and realized that if my bass got stolen I couldn't replace it.

That's kind of a terrifying realization, so I feel for you guys. Find replacements. It took me a long time but I did. Not the same but they get the job done. And I still have the Steinberger - but it's not getting hauled out to $50 bar night anymore.

At least you know it's coming.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm currently trying to get a repair on my Walter Woods. You wouldn't happen to have any new info regarding his contact or alternative repair possibilities, do you? Thanks,
