Want the ultimate Fender P under $2k

Something to do with the ash/maple combination and the vintage pickups...I'm currently playing an ash/ebony P bass with an Aguilar pickup that has a similarly clear and aggressive voicing

Makes sense if you believe wood species makes much difference to the sound of an electric instrument. I have a similar sounding Ash/Maple Ibanez Blazer with super P4 pickup. Killer Tone!

The only four string P bass I'd buy is about $1,000 and it's a Roadworn. If I had to spend $2k, then a custom shop , used.

Theres a dingwall super p in the classifieds for just under 2k

I'd second the Dingwall Super P.

I put the Fender up for sale the day mine arrived.

Every last detail is refined to perfection. String balance and sound across the board and up and down the neck is super nice. The D and G strings really punch through with the shorter scale.

I've seen used US 44-64s come up for sale here in the Classifieds about once a month, on average.

The one you linked is part of the new Classic line--US Laklands at reduced prices. Lakland is able to sell these for less because they limit the finish options to just two or three, there's only one neck option, one body wood option, and one pickguard option (nothing else is customizable on the Classics, either).

Do yourself a favor and get your hands on an AVRI or American Vintage. That's all I'm gonna say.
