Hands down to me, best choice if I could have only 1 p pass-MIM Classic 50s Fender Precision. Used prices are reasonable and clean examples are out there. Nice sunburst available in TB classifieds. No affiliation to the seller just mutual appreciation for an awesome classic. Necks are great on these , 1.75" nut width. My '06 is light too.

...If y buy the professional I want to be sure that is a right choice for recording because there are lot of bad reviews. If not, I can wait to buy a used model or online for a sure value!

When it comes to musical instruments "bad reviews" are 99% subjective. If you find something you love, someone will be there to hate it; you can bet you're lunch on it

For me the best sounding & playing Fender P-bass is a G&L L2000 with the "K" wiring. This comes after owning/playing dozens of Fenders & clones over the years. Granted many of those were really good, but to my ears/hands the G&L kills it.

Best advice is to go play every P-type bass you can (all brands & variations) then choose the one you like best. Reviews be damned!

I replaced the stock pickup with a Lindy Fralin, which was a very worthwhile upgrade. Though it doesn't sound quite as rich and complex as a real late 1950's P, it comes pretty close.

If you can't try a few out to choose from, I'd think an American Professional should be a good bet for getting a good P bass.

My favorite is an old MIM Standard - not saying it's the best out there, but I got used to it over the years and it suits me. I also have an American Standard, the main benefit of which is that it's substantially lighter. Meanwhile, I always remember an American Series Precision I was checking out in a store years ago - that one sits in my mind as my personal gold standard. Shoulda bought it, but...oh well!

As everyone is saying, ideally you could try a few out to see which specs and sound suit you. But if you can't try a few out, that American Professional is likely to at least be quite decent.

Specs-wise, for me I know I want the 1.625" width, C-shaped neck with 9.5" radius, rosewood fretboard, on an alder body, the whole thing weighing a maximum of 9 lbs. YMMV - a vintage spec'ed one (1.75" width, "thick C", maple fretboard) would feel quite different in the hand and sound a bit different too. But which would be better? Depends on the player's personal preferences

Also, if you're buying it for your studio primarily for others to play, an American Professional seems like a decent way to go - not too specialized and something almost anyone would recognize as nice, standard type gear. Not boutique, not cheap - a nice upper-middle ground
