Want to replace individual stomps with mulit-effects

Anybody tried the TC Electronics G-System? Looks a bit more flexible than the M13 - while it does multi-effects, it also has 5 external loops. Haven't heard much from people actually using them for bass, although it looks like Stanley Clarke had one during the SMV tour. I've been really happy with my TC RH450 head.

Personally I've been using a GT-10B which I like, but I've been trying to come up with more flexibility in less space, which has me currently exploring the soft side... Since I already carry a laptop most places, in theory a good USB audio interface with the right software should be a great fit. In practice, I'm still undecided - I've been playing with NI's Guitar Rig 4, and I suppose I need to give it more time but so far getting sounds dialed in seems a lot more cumbersome than the GT-10B.

$1500 for the unit is probably the reason you don't hear a lot of people using them.

I would not get rid of my stomps until I got the M dialed in just right. And only then.

Yep, I've seen M13's in the low $300 range. That's what got my attention! They didn't last long, for sure. And they were certainly not unused/unscratched. I think they have been out longer than the M9, so there are some older ones out there. (Older being relative.)

I know the feeling!! I started this thread really thinking about GT-6b/ME-50b/Floor Pod/Bass XT LIVE/ME-8b, etc. But, after all the raves about the M-series, seems you can't go wrong with them. Now, anything less would be unfulfilling. lol

Talk about "selling up"! :)

Found another M9 for $329/free ship. Says or BEST OFFER. Ends in 3 hours. Brand new. If I wasn't considering a used M13, I'd jump on that one. He might take $300.. who knows?

Wow, yea i've been considering the M9 for a while and you definately sealed the deal. Just bought one on ebay for $329 w/ free shipping. Plus it ships from the city i live in so I should get it really soon. Can't believe I just spent that much but for me even just the looper + All the delays it comes with make it worth it. For laughs I looked and the price of a DL-4 is about $250 so it seems I paid and extra $80 for an extra 80 effects?

Congratulations! (said with extreme envy)

Which seller did you buy it from? I got a bunch on my watch list. M9 and M13.

When you get it in and check it out, you gotta give the ole club dude your report. I keep going back and forth about the M13 and the M9. Since I'm trying to quit lugging around a pedalboard full of pedals, the M9 would achieve that the best, but the M13 is a little more bang for the buck.

I'm excited vicariously through you. :D

More good news. Pay as you play.....

Buy a brand new M13 and split the cost into four installments of $124.99. Only $3.95 1-time processing fee. Free ship.

M9 = 4 x $89.98 (new, factory resealed)
" $99.98 (new)

30-day "no-hassle" return policy.

Store name starts with a "z"
paying $100 more than the item costs is good news? not in my world.

Where did you get $100, Jimmy?

Unless you find one on the bay, or a blem, or used, it seems they are $399 for the M9 and $499 for the M13.

M9
4x$99.98=$399.92
4x$89.98=$359.92 (blem)

M13
4x$124.99=$499.92

What am I missing? Can you find a new M9 for $299, a blem for $259, or a new M13 for $399. If so, please tell us where. Like I posted earlier, there are some M9's on the bay for $329-339, but that's still not $100.

My purpose was for those who might not like to get off of $400-$500 all at once, and have time to utilize the return policy before paying for it in it entirely.

Even though the M13 is a better bang for the buck, I'm still trying to see if the M9 would do the job for me. Any of you that have one, please chime in....

I know you can have three effects on at once. And you can have three more waiting in reserve, or two to each of the three "banks". Well, I run a little compressor all the time, so that takes up one "bank" of the the three.

That leaves two "banks" of two each left for effects....... I use chorus and octaver a lot. I use overdrive slightly less. I use the envelope filter a little less than the overdrive. Sometimes I use the filter with the octaver, and sometimes I use the overdrive with the octaver. And I'm sure with the M, I will find some more that I like.

So.... I can't put the octaver and the overdrive or filter in the same "bank" of two. As I understand it, when you hit one effect in the bank, it cancels the other one. So, if you were using the octaver, and you had the filter on "standby", then they both could not work at the same time. If you put the the overdrive in the same bank, same result.

You could put the overdrive and the filter in the same bank, because I never use them at the same time (with my stomps). I guess I could put the chorus in the same "bank" as the octaver. But there would still be one button unused on the same bank as the compressor.

Confused yet? I am.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I've been shopping for a new Multi Effects for about a year now. I own a very well loved Boss GT-6B that is 7 years old. I've used it live, on recordings, and at home extensively. I know you're leaning towards the M9 and the M13, but I've tried them both and I figured I'd just make my case for the Boss products.

Manipulating the GT6-B is pretty easy if you have any experience with multi effects pedals, which you obviously have. What everyone here has said about it is great. My only gripe about it is that the buttons you use the most (turning off delay or the other 15 time based effects in the FX-2 Bank) is about the size of your pinky finger nail. You can program one of the stomp box pedals to do this, but then you can't use: a) the looping function at the same time or b) have a separate stomp for your standard Reverb/Delay settings. This also means you cannot use whammy, delay, and reverb at the same time, and there are many similar exclusionary rules in combining effects in the GT6-B

Neither the GT10-B (as far as I can tell from my singular-limited demo experience, (f*** you guitar center)), the M9 or M13 have this problem, the biggest sell for me on the M13/9 is being able to stack compressors, delays, and other effects because I can't do that now. Not to mention the ability to toggle a myriad of effects simultaneously AND loop them. The octave function sucks on the GT6-B in my opinion, unless you're using it lightly (which is all I ever use it for anyway)

All three have the ability to backup on your computer, the GT10-B (claims) to use USB, while the M 13 uses MIDI (Good luck connecting MIDI to your computer unless you have an audio interface, or a snazzy/ancient sound card). The only feature of the GT10-B I didnt have time to use was the parallel chain which allows you to blend two effects streams together, create a switch between the two based on playing dynamics, or with the programmable stomp pedals.

As an audio engineer, the features of the Boss GT10B sell it for me: the degree of manipulation seems infinite, but if you're going live, and you gig often, I'd vote for the M13 based on its construction alone. I wouldn't get a used GT-6B, as I have seen and played many used units (trying to dicrectly replace mine) and they all have similar problems to mine after about 2-3 years of use.

Hope this helps, fight the GAS and further debts in this economy :D.
