My faves also. Ready to go right out of the package, no sticky feeling, or clank.GHS Precision Flats might be worth a try. Woody warmth with focused punch, I particularly like the light set (45-60-75-95) on my P bass for their tonal balance. The 95E is clean and clear with very good note definition and it doesn't get muddy like the La Bella 104E I once tried on this particular bass. Punchy without being thuddy.

What color are the silks on GHS P Flats?
LaBella DTF 760FL.I've been playing flats for a year or so but I haven't been able to get the sound I want out of the ones I've used. I've tried Chromes and DR Legends and I dislike them both for different reasons. Chromes are way to bright, I had the same set on for about 8 months and they were still to bright.
The DR set is a bit less bright but still not quite there but I've only had them on for 3-4 months so they might break in more eventually. But they're way to loose and low tension for me and that gives them a bit to much clank. The chromes are also a bit low tension but not as bad. The DR's also have a very undefined E string which I really don't like.
So what strings should I try. I know labella's are popular but from what I herd they have a somewhat undefined E string and a fast decay which is why I haven't tried them yet. other than that any suggestions would be appreciated.
They used to be purple, but the silk on the new ones I just got is more blue-ish purple now.

I like Fender 9050L flats on my Jazz bass and I'm pretty sure I like 45-105 Dunlop stainless flats on my '58 type P.
On the other hand, I'm thinking of trying LaBella DT 760FS or 760FM flats and or GHS Precision flats (gauge TBD) because there's only one way to truly know, from immediate experience, focused punch vs thump, defined fundamentals, etc. I believe my Nash PB with rosewood board would be my best test subject for these strings.
The OP is kind of confusing, because it says that the Chromes are too low tension and the DR Legends are too bright. It's possible this refers to a very light set of Chromes but most people say that if anything, they're too stiff. And the Legends are about the least bright flats in captivity, especially after having been broken in for 3-4 months. So ... something stiffer than Chromes and not as bright as Legends is a tough order. The LaBella FM or FS is possible, as I expect the E isn't as problematic as the OP fears (though the higher gauge may be worse in that regard). But heavy gauge GHS P-flats may also work, although IME they're brighter than Legends, especially in the higher strings. I hope the P-flats work out, though, and I hope the OP reports back with his/her findings.
