Warmoth Early Black Friday Screamin' Deals

Sup Friends. I have been toying with my next build ideas for awhile and hopped on Warmoth.com this morning and saw their early black Friday sale was going on. Invalid Link Removed

It's mostly Strat necks (like 70%) but there were a few bass necks and bodies on there as well. I jumped on this wenge J neck. I have been using the inexpensive MIM Fender roasted maple necks for my last few builds, but even after shipping and tax, this one came out over $100 cheaper. I think it'll look awesome on the purple body I'm planning.

Hey I saw that one too. Look into their truss rod access to make sure it will work if you are using a right handed body.

They say these funky setups are not available on left-handed guitar necks. I'm assuming that also applies to basses, but it gave me enough pause to just grab a traditional neck instead of that gorgeous lefty.

Thanks for the consideration; I'm not planning on building the body until well after the neck shows up, will make sure to route access wherever necessary - the nice thing about making your own bodies is that you can use whatever neck you get

Just got my wenge neck in. I really like it. Nice comfy carve, smooth final sanding.

There is no finish on this neck, and it doesn't require one. However, I'm going to talk to some trusted builder friends who have done a lot of work with wenge and get some opinions. I think I would like a beeswax or some other coat on this to both keep my sweat out of it, and speed up the feel a bit.

I really like the dark and complex grain structure on this one. It reminds of the old frame timber on the 100+ year old barn on my in-laws' weekend retreat property in central KY. I was originally wanting to put this on a purple-burst over quilt maple body, but now I'm thinking the light maple center of the purple burst would clash against this rich, dark neck. I'm still wanting to stick with purple, but now I'm thinking about either solid metal flake, or just a transparent purple quilt top, where the purple is even across the entire top. Decisions, decisions!

The only mild bummer so far is the fretwork. The fret ends are fine, and installation looks clean and even, and neck looks pretty good/straight, but there is zero crown on the frets so they are still very present/tactile as you slide up and down the neck in a normal playing position. It's not a huge deal, but it's something I'll have my builder fix when it's time to put the thing together. I shouldn't fuss at $227 though, I guess, lol!

@musicman556 funny story, it should have arrived yesterday but ups accidentally sent it to Minnesota from my local location in Kentucky and has to reroute back. I learned a new word "sortation" at least

No rush on my end, I don't even have the body wood yet lol

I got the rosewood board one. I believe there were two very similar ones a few weeks back - both wenge but one with a wenge board and one with a rosewood board. I got the rosewood one and it looks like you got the wenge board one.
