Warmoth Order Disappointment- RESOLUTION UPDATE IN OP

I've had a few necks from Freestone and have been very happy with them, they are easy to deal with and their workmanship is very good from what I've seen. Here's a couple with more flame than yours along the length of the shaft and they were on necks less than a quarter of what yours cost. (Though they didn't have the flashy inlays etc. that would have added a fair bit to the price of your neck.) There are certainly other option besides Warmoth, some might not offer as wider range of options, but it all depends on what you're looking for.

I’ve talked to this guy via EBay (Tucker Freestone) after being fed up with Warmoth and their lack of decent customer service. He’s got some pretty cool stuff on there albeit very limited, and he’s said that he hopes to offer buy it now options in the future. Is your neck holding up well? Any issues?

So I tend to agree with all of the opinions here. I very nicely contacted customer service by phone, and they asked to see pictures. I sent them photos, along with the comparison photos I showed here. Their CSR’s initial response:

“We cannot guarantee the flame figuring in any of our products. Wood grain varies piece by piece. We will have multiple eyes look at this to see if we are at any fault here. If we decide we’re at fault, we’ll rebuild your neck with a 20% restock fee for the first one. But if our builders say it looks fine, you’re welcome to reorder a neck to your liking for the cost of the new neck, plus the restock fee for the first neck.”

Oof.

So you'd have to pay full price for a new neck plus 20% of the price of the first neck if you return it? Why even return it then? Or am I missing something?

Did they explain why the restock fee? In the past (meaning 6 months ago) they charged the fee if you canceled the order but if you received the order and returned it within window there was no fee other than you were out shipping both ways. There return policy on their website does not reference a restocking fee. Did policy change? Do they charge the fee if you are out of the 10 day window?

So this info was just from the immediate response I got from the random CSR when making my initial inquiry. They’ve since agreed to look at the situation. Their stance could very easily change or be different than the generic info the CSR provided. I just wanted to ask fellow bass players if I was being unreasonable in my disappointment.

Ok…. While I appreciate your support, comradery, and enthusiasm, that may have been a bit much. Kind of angry and insulting, which I’ve not been toward Warmoth thus far. I feel you’ve probably done nothing but make the situation worse, as they won’t be too thrilled to receive that email. Thanks for that.
I would have to disagree. They're in retail at the end of the day. Any time a nasty gram like that comes up it rattles cages and axes start to sharpen. You don't want your image getting out that you're a group of turds only in it for the money. yes, we all know every company is in it for the money, but we all appreciate when they cater to us and make us feel like more than just a dollar sign.

Let’s give it up for the guy that needed to speak on my behalf and then get insulting when no one wanted his help. @waltwpowell

Let’s give it up for the guy that wants to be nice to the company that ripped him off but has no issue being a jerk to the like mind individuals that would speak up on his behalf. @dopejohnpaul

Not trying to get boned. Just no need in getting all panties wadded over a perfectly beautiful neck that just happens to not be what I ordered.
I learned a lesson a while back when I started a thread for a specific purpose and it went sideways. There is no way to control how people will feel or where the conversation might go. It's part and parcel of posting a new thread - especially one that might outrage others.

They didn’t rip anyone off. They provided me a very high quality, beautiful bass neck that just happened to not be what I ordered. Hopefully they’ll remedy the situation. I posted here to see if I was justified in contacting them about my disappointment, not to start some anti-Warmoth crusade. Being an ******* to them is not going to help me in getting a welcoming solution.
