Warmoth Owners Club!!

I'm looking for a new neck for my jazz bass and found a 24 fret warmoth neck used online. How stable is that overhanging fingerboard? And does anyone know how close it would get to the neck pickup? Are those upper frets even really accessible on a standard jazz bass body?

Also, it's apparently wenge with a rosewood board. Is that a good combo?

One of these weekends I will clean it up and pull out the better camera. It has become my main and my workhorse for almost everything

Here's my Warmoth Jazz Deluxe 5...
Body: Alder, Tung Oil finish 5 coats, EMG P/J active pups, no preamp. Really doesn't need it.
Neck:Goncalo Alves Shaft, Pau Ferro Fretboard, White 1 7/8 inch Corian Nut... Truss Rod works perfectly... Very little playing time on the Frets. Back of neck is natural, as they say NOT to put anything on Gonco Alves.
Includes Hipshot Ultra Lite Tuners.... Badass V bridge.
It smokes!

So I just got a slim profile J neck with Tele headstock and the profile is indeed very slim . If you guys like J necks go for the slim profile it's very close to a a Fender shape and not so massive as typical Warmoth necks can be .
Here it is on a Renegade Guitar works body . I finished both body and neck in Watco Danish oil , with her cousin a Renegade tele & Warmoth neck.

I really dig the feel of my wenge neck. I became addicted to the feel of raw wood many years ago when I found my Warwick Fortress. I was just browsing at my local music store when the owner had just hung up a couple fresh Warwicks. That neck just felt so organic, It seemed like could feel the notes! I put a deposit on the bass that day.

That said...I had the benefit of trying it before buying it. If possible get out and play one first before dropping 400 bones to have that one built. Your specs are not the most popular, so you'd take a bigger hit on resale if it turns out you don't like it.

I am pretty sure those last 3 frets are pretty unreachable on a Fender Jazz body. You'd be contorting your wrist pretty good with your thumb in front of the board as well...not impossible but not practical either. I would like to try one actually...if I ever ran across a good deal on one, I'd probably pull the trigger.

I suppose if you did get it and hated it...it would be a simple mod to remove some or all of the extension.

I don't think it will get too close to the pickup though.

I'm referring to a loaded neck from Stratosphere. I was kinda interested in it but it seems overpriced and it's a jazz neck. Not for me. I figured those upper frets would be pretty useless on a standard jazz.

Okay...I see the one you're talking about. It is a bit overpriced for a used neck. You can have one built new from Warmoth for $400 and pick your nut width.

The Schaller tuners they are including are nothing special and could probably be found in the classifieds for $40-$50.

so the neck came in , the body arrives Monday . Danish oil will be the finish of choice again . I took another chance and used it on the fingerboard . I know Danish oil sinks in and hardens , like tru-oil but it doesn't build like tru-oil .. still I love the way this looks and feels , it really brings out the natural color and feels like silk . Should look great on that body.
It's not even waxed yet but it does look rich so far
