Warmoth Owners Club!!

Thanks Fretno and congratz for the Ken Smith,

I might start ordering the parts soon, the urge just got bigger..lol..
I'm planning to drop a Nordy big singles pup, which route will fit 'em? (barts soap bar, emg soap bar or what) will they custom the route? Coz i don't see Nordy big singles pup route on the pickups route section.
Last thing, how do you adjust the fret leveling? Is it a big deal?

Thanks

Fret Leveling is a big deal and you should probably take it to a good Luthier , I however have never needed fret leveling on a new warmoth though so hopefully you won't either . They do , do custom work so perhaps if the p/u's are different than what is on their site , they may be able to route it for those . I have always went with a standard p/u my last Warmoth has Qtuners which are infact standard fender size.
:)

Hey Thanks ! That's it , were did you find it ? :bassist:

Take the link from a picture of a neck in the showcase, then replace the serial number in that link with number from the neck you ordered, followed by an "A" for the front picture, or a "B" for the back picture.

According to the photobucket pic you posted, your neck is BN2611.

adhus - 4 or 5 string? They def have routing for the both. The 4 string size rout is under 4 string routs and is listed as Bartolini BC and the 5 string is under 5 string rout and is 32mm length x 108mm width Soap bar size rout.

Fret leveling is totally dependent on how the neck comes new. Some necks need leveling and some dont. With older necks that have been used and wore down in spots it may be needed as well. Regardless, a luthier should do that kind of work.

I hope that helped!

Thanks for the tip !
@Fretno,

So you're saying fret leveling is only for an old/used neck(fret)?

fret leveling is often needed when there is a high spot ( new fret install ) or worn spots from playing . Warmoth IIRC does say that their fret work may require final dressing and leveling at least they use to but in all 5 or 6 necks I've bought it was never needed (except the ends like I pointed out before)

Bass-Adrenaline and Fretno,

it's gonna be a
-standard Jbass 5 string
-finished body and neck
-Nordy big singles
-preamp either Nordy or something else
-thinking of rear routing
-black hardwares
and the rest of details will follow.
That's the problem, i really don't think i would find a luthier or tech in the place where i live. Most probably i have to do everything on my own. And i only have very little knowledge. So i will push my luck..;)
And for the p/u, i have to find the dimension of that big singles to match the existing route.
Thanks for the info and support guys, really appreciate it..

Im doing my build on my own (with minimal help) and i dont have any experience in doing it either. Im a very hands on person so this is mainly a learning experience for me.

If you need anymore help post up. I double checked and the pickup rout info i gave you is correct.

First bass project with Warmoth jazz neck of padouk and rosewood. Getting Hipshot ultralites, and LaBella 760FM flats this week. MIM body. May be jamming it Friday nite.

The explorer I did about seven or eight years ago. Warmoth padouk neck and Warmoth alder body. If you're wondering what color padouk will look like after several years, look at the explorer's head as compared to the new bass' red head. I routed the middle pickup. It has dirty fingers pickups that I put covers on. Volume knob only, and sounds like it's on steroids. No need for a distortion pedal, and a bit too much for small amps and sensitive speakers. A couple years later, I laminated the top with a flame maple veneer, staining it and blending the edges. Covered with gloss poly and wet sanded as if it was a custom car, and added the Maestro. Just finished assembling the all USA Tele from parts. 500ohm pots, vintage three way switch, SCN humbucker bridge pickup, and I routed for the Duncan 59 humbucker neck pickup. This guitar is most excellent. Plays and sounds like a dream, though I'd like it to have a tremolo.

Ugh, im havving a dilema. I want a Macassar Ebony fingerboard but i have no idea how the piece id get will look. The choice wood pictures dont show what the finished product will look like so that doesnt help either. I want something brown with decent figuring like this -

Maybe like this (again, so much variation between pieces)....

I would like a number. I have a warmoth beast that is almost 12 years old. This was my main gigging bass back then. It has been through some battles. I am currently making some mods to it to get it back to the point of playable. Will post pics as soon as I get it back together. Would like to add that this is and always will be my favorite bass of all time.:bassist:

I'd like a number.

Tru-oil satin finished chambered black korina body with black pinstripe, raw bubinga C profile jazz neck (tru-oiled headstock) with 6150 frets, black Gotoh 201 bridge, Schaller tuners, and Hipshot 3 string retainer, Delano JMVC 4 FE/M2 split coil jazz pickups & Delano Sonar 3 pre (wired passive when pic was taken). I made the control plate out of 1/8" bubinga.

Setup Drop C, this thing sounds MASSIVE...deep thundering lows, punchy mids, crisp snappy highs. With the chambered body and heavy bubinga neck I was a little worried about neck dive, but it balances perfectly. I love this thing.

I've already started collecting bits for my next Warmoth...a set of Delano JMVC4 FE/M2(neck) and a MC4 AL(bridge) and Nordstrand 3B pre. Mmmmmmmmmm........*drool*

^ Your bass is gorgeous! I love black limba. That's really similar to something I'd like to do, but with the J and MM pup in a P bass body.

Here's a quick question for everyone. How do you know what weight of body to go with to offset the neck weight to make sure you have a well balancing instrument? Say you have a 4 lb. body, how would you know what neck to go with to balance with that?

Thanks! While I save up $$ for Warmoth #2 I've been trying to decide what to put that Delano J+MM set and Nordy 3 band pre into ....swamp ash body/wenge neck? ...korina body/wenge neck? ...another jbass? ...what about a thunderbird? ...should I truoil this one too or go with a solid color? ...inca silver? ...transparent sunset orange? Too many choices!!!!

I wish I could help you with the neck/body weight ratio. My body was 4lbs 7oz IIRC, but I don't recall seeing a weight for my neck anywhere. I was afraid it would have some serious neck dive as I hear bubinga tends to be pretty heavy, but it balances perfectly.

I'm a huge fan of their necks and wouldn't consider anything else! I can't say they've all been "perfect", or with out need for minor adjustment or work - but far above anything else I've used in the last 40 years for this type neck. A couple bloodwood pics:
