Warmoth Owners Club!!

Warmoth guys who post here, maybe you can answer a question for me.

Are you going to be making medium and short scale basses or not??

Reason I ask is, I asked a question about them on your Facebook page and was told that they were not officially out until mid-2010, but was advised to contact the sales department, as they might have been able to get one started just now. Only problem is, when I emailed through the website to ask a few questions the reply was,

"Sadly, at this point we only know of these as speculation and
conjecture. We have no solid specs, prices, or options to provide."

So either your various departments dont liase with things like this, or are these basses just made up? I'd like to ask some questions about them and available options before I order, but at the moment they don't exist, and never did!

My apologies for the confusion. Yes, they do exist. The marketing materials and website code have not been fleshed out yet. Best to email me directly with your questions: [email protected]

I know im kinda bumping the thread with an old post but whatever.

Anyway, i wanted a gecko with spalted maple top and they told me it wasnt possible and then i see this. lol

Itd be great if they got programing for the gecko to allow binding so you could have more top options.

Bad pics but the body is warmoth , painted in reranch nitro. I am now trying to sell this for a stingray so if you got a ray hit me up if you want to trade:cool:

Only the body on this is warmoth tho, i feel warmoth makes a superior body over fenders.

Fender Original P bass pickups
Fender 62 reissue mint guard
Fender American Vintage Nickel Tuners
Fender Chrome Flat top Knobs
Fender American Vintage Bridge
Fender Genuine Neck plate
Fender strap buttons/screws

man I wish I have pics of my Warmoth Pbass that I built a while back... it has an ash body and birdseye maple/rosewood neck. THe body is painted white with matching head stock, tort gaurd and it's pinstriped black and red. There should be some pics of it on here somewhere.. I just dont know how to find them HAHA

if i remember correctly (from reading on warmoth's forum) he had a bit of an experiment. spalted maple is too weak for warmoth to offer to customers on a regular basis and he took on the project at the risk of not having it come together properly (since he was an employee).

but i've seen a few showcase pieces with spalted tops. might be worth calling again unless you just did very recently.

anyway, i don't need a number (since this is a bass forum :D ) but here are my warmoths. i can't resist whoring pictures of these things out whenever i can. i think i should start carrying pictures in my wallet...

I asked them recently. Idealy id like a spalted maple top on a gecko but they wont do it. They only do spalted maple on bodies that have binding and geckos arent setup for binding. IDK maybe ill go with a jazz body or somethign.

This is correct. Spalt is very soft and punky. It took me quite a while digging through the wood piles to find a piece that had the figuring I wanted but was not too soft to bend and shatter. The shop guys had to hand sand the edges and much of the top, which was very time consuming. I don't think the shop crew was very happy with me....

Yeah, im kind of torn right now. A gecko body is what i want but im kind of set on a spalted maple top as well. Ive tried thinking of of other tops id like but im drawing a blank.

Also, as far as the spalted maple goes, can you choose what piece of wood is used. That was another concern of mine if i went that route. Some spalted maple looks great and some looks pretty dull.

That's what the unique choice section is for. You can select the exact top to be used.

Those laminates can be used on the Gecko, unless they require binding. There's no spalt listed right now, but more is available.
