Warmoth Owners Club!!

Yeah, I was shocked, too. They posted about the $50 sale on Instagram, so I've been popping in to check. I didn't see any $50 deals until that body came up today.

Here's the section on their website! I hope someone else gets a cool deal: Invalid Link Removed

I typically go for 4ish pound bodies from Warmoth and this one is 5.1 or something, but I think that will help with balance since the Jazzmaster style body doesn't have a long upper horn and I'll still have an 8ish pound build.
I just went thru every page but didn't see any $50 deals. I did see a few real good prices on bodies though! Would really like another unlined fretless neck!

Here’s my Warmoth parts bass. The body is a Warmoth alder body in fiesta red that was loaded with Fralin pickups. Neck is Wenge with an ebony board.

Hi rabidwolverine, your Warmoth looks awesome! I was actually considering ordering a Warmoth neck with this exact wenge/ebony wood combination and attaching it to my existing alder Warmoth jazz. I also was considering replacing the body's current Fender "originals" jazz pickups with Fralins, based on recommendations from TBers who have tried them and been happy with them. As you have direct experience with this combination of awesome woods, parts and electronics, I'm wondering if you would please describe its tone. I tend to play with both pickups fully open and the tone know around 50%. I'm hoping to achieve the following tone:
* Strong, clear lows
* Stronger, grunty low-mids
* Average high mids (not honky)
* Smooth highs (not glassy)
I'd greatly value your thoughts, experience and guidance! :)
Thanks!
Lucca

Will be getting this together after the holidays. 32" scale. Neck is wenge/pau ferro. Body is roasted swamp ash.

If there's anyone with experience doing burst finishes here, advice/tips would be appreciated. I'm going for a brown burst that fades from brown matching the wenge on the edge, to lighter brown with varied shades to match the pau ferro in the center. I'm going to use water based dye, and finish with Tru Oil.

Here's my Warmoth Dbl-P. Alder body from a Buscanti Vibe, Warmoth Roasted Maple neck, (Slim Taper, Blocks, Steel rods). The body had some hidden modifications to the neck pocket to fit a 1-7/16" heel. B was pretty good at matching the paint and no obvious lines. I removed the neck shims on the sides, trimmed out the heel curves and set the Warmoth neck in snugly. Had to keep the slightly hidden 1/8" shim for the neck height.
I re-aligned and set the Hipshot bridge and made Warmoth pg holes. The bridge split P is off center slightly but makes no difference in the sound. It has a darker tone and I guess you can attribute that to the Italian-made pickups? I tried 3 different passive harnesses and very little change. Currently wired with a Fender Stacked assembly, caps, diodes. She still snaps when you need it to. I'm looking to replace them with G&L MFD eventually... Action at 12th is 1.2-1.75mm. No buzz unless you want it and dig in some.
Overall a really nice neck and build that came together just right. :thumbsup:

So I tried 2 more other sets of pickups including GZR's, and the Masters Of Wood pups just sound better. They look better too as the bridge rout is off-center, (thanks Buscanti), and the huge poles on the MOW seem to catch all the strings vibration. Got 2 sets of GZR's for sale! ;)

Random question - do y'all typically custom order your parts or shop the showcase?

I custom ordered 2 necks last year. One fretted and one fretless. Both very cool, but the fretless is next level. Roasted flamed maple, lined ebony, no dots. It feels amazing and is the perfect compliment to a Koa body I scored in the TB classifieds.

A Babicz bridge came with the body and I finished off the build with Seymour Duncan Apollo pickups, Hipshot Ultra lights, TI flats, and Dunlop strap locks. It’s a keeper!

Got my first body back when it was called The Thrift Shop, which had bits and pieces, over runs, and orders that weren't picked up. It's a Black Korina P w/Quilt cap in a blue burst that forced me to buy it! Had them add the J route and I ordered a killer Bird'seye maple J neck for it. Had EMG's, currently Aguilar, VVT.
It is still one of my desert island basses. I have 4 other new bodies and necks (new and Showcase).

Both. Sometimes, something in the showcase (or Thrift Shop, as it was called) will grab my attention, especially if it's something that they don't normally build or is not a standard option. But other times I have something specific in mind that ends up being a custom order, like my roasted maple/Mac ebony P neck with creme binding and dots and slim profile...
