helps to post with pictures and details. Any way i have about 12 warmoth projects , probably more. I got addicted back in the early 80's when their thrift shop was really a thrift shop.. Many bodies and necks used to be $99 each. here is 2 of my more mundane basses as i need to get some pictures of the rest. first is a warmoth pbass in shoreline gold with warmoth tele neck. second one is slab body ith 2 single coil pbass pups (quarter pounders) - all warmoth including pickguard.

Will i run into neck dive issues using a wenge/ebony neck on a mohagony 5 string gecko body? Im at the point where the neck is all i dont have eiother ordered or am about to order for my project. One thing that really bothers me is neck dive. I dont mind heavy basses, just overweight necks.
That Slab-body looks really sweet! I've been thinking about a dual single-coil P configuration myself. How does it sound?
I did this about a year ago and out of all the Basses I have done in the past with Warmoth parts, I like this one the best. Here is what it is:

It has quarter pounders in it. sounds pretty much like a super charged jazz bass. thicker and stronger on the deep tones and overall hotter sounding. great neck solo'd sound - better than a standard j bass. they may be more of a qtr pounder result...

I doubt you missed a thing, line6man. I don't always post all that I've done, and at one time I had 4 necks I was swapping between 2 basses (as needed or inspired). The quarter-sawn maple with bloodwood fingerboard was the best sounding Warmoth neck I've had...but it was felt more like a P-Bass than a J-Bass. Too bad (it's pictured on the J-Bass). The all bloodwood was a marvel, and one like it with the "new slim" profile may be on a future fretless build. The all bloodwood was also too thick at the nut (where I make my money), and had stainless frets - I've come full circle back to Dunlop nickel frets. I have all the guts and hardware - just need to order the neck with a P-Bass body routed for J-Bass pups, which is something I've come back to as well. Alder is always my body wood of choice; passive pups also make it for me. Your tastes and/or experiments always intrigue me. It's about that (seemingly elusive) perfect envisioned sound and playability
Warmoths new body builder is sweet. I hope they get it all setup for bass bodies. The new setup would have made my life a ton easier when i bought my body from them.
Warmoth has some and ive seen a number of other parts sites that have them like stew mac.

This is great! Thanks! I did not see these and I had checked both sites. The cool thing is that I can order the neck and body from Warmoth and specify that I'll be using the ferrules - and I'm sure they'll make sure it's all a good fit.
I'm looking for some advice from you Warmoth parts bass pros. I've been there done that - from Warmoth parts basses to all kinds of production models and I'm still looking for the ultimate J5 style bass. I kinda like the new Fender Deluxe 5s that are about to hit the streets this summer, but always wanted a slightly downsized body - and there are only 3 colors available with the RW board! The smaller Fender Deluxe J5 from a couple years ago was cool, but the neck was not. Now, Warmoth is offering the new neck shape AND the 1.75" nut width - a good thing - and the 2.9" at the heel is perfect. I've found that 3" at the heel is a bit too wide - and my Pre-Gibson Tobias Killer B5 is about 2-7/8" at the heel - just right! So, 2.9 on the Warmoth will be great.
Warmoth says they'll do the Dinky J body and route the neck pocket for the D5 neck - 4+1 tuners on headstock. I don't know if I'll have any neck dive issues or not, but with Hipshot Ultra Lites, I should be fine.
I'm going to go with a rear routed cavity on the body, so I can do a preamp - or not. I might do a totally passive setup. I'm going to arrange the knobs in P Bass position - like Valenti is doing on his basses, and a side mounted jack.
I'm going to go with the Hipshot A Style bridge so I can adjust the string spacing to the pickups, which brings me to the pup question. There are so many options now. What do you all think about pup selection for a J5? To keep it simple, I'm thinking standard J style pups - hum cancelling. Nordstrands NJ5s?

Ha, i feel stupid now for not asking if they would do a 5 string dinky before i bought something else.
