Maybe not new items but a few more options on body and necks would be nice.
How about allowing for 3 pickup routing on bodies, bridge, middle, and neck. Not just the current bridge and middle. Also on body and pickguard building have truss rod adjustment route out as a build option.

For the neck it would be really nice if the fender style headstock could have truss rod adjustment at the headstock as an option. Even if it cost an extra $100. Add to that a short scale tele style headstock for the Fender Bullet Bass look.

For paint choices having the same access to limited style paint options that they have for guitars would be nice. I would have totally bought a bass body in the limited run olive drab if it was available for bass bodies as well.

Generally I’d be happy if they reintroduced some of the build options the removed from the custom builder 10+ years ago.

Lastly,speaking of new options, a couple more fender style body options would be nice. Like the mustang,Bronco bass, bullet bass, or the musicmaster body would be nice short scale options. Be really nice to make a Warmoth Bullet Bass or Mustang Bass.

I’d like to see more exotic wood options. Warmoth is already the best for this but more is always better.

If it’s not patented, I’d love to see a EBMM type truss rod wheel adjustment option and would prefer the showcase necks to not have the extra fret overhang.

A Bullet bass body would be more than welcome indeed.

Revisiting this shape and size of body could lead us to the perfect body being an in-between the standard precision bass and a a Spector Euro size of body.

The body of the p bass is just a little too big for me while the Spector Euro 4 is just a little too small.

They will do triple pickups for a fee but you have to be able to give exact measurements. I have done 5 or 6 triples with Warmoth doing the routing.

Some interesting responses so far! Quite diverse in terms of priority. Here are my main ones in order of importance:
  1. Practical: Scale conversion necks for standard bodies (35” and 33” for 4 and 5 string)
  2. Mixed practical/style: Offer T-bass as a short-scale body (natural pairing because of shorter top horn, but also: I love the T-bass but hate neck-heavy instruments)
  3. Style only: Bring back carved tops on dinky P, and introduce a carved-soloist type option on dinky J. Carved tops don't make you funkier, but they are so beautiful! (e.g. @bassclef112's dinky-P)
Runner-up would be dinky/modern FSO 5-strings like Sadowsky, Lull, Mayones or Pensa, but purely for visual/stylistic reasons. I remember @mikezimmerman also mentioning this a while back so maybe some consensus here?

In order of ease/priority:
  • Give bass the same fretboard profile/radius options as guitar. 7.5, 10, 12, 14, etc.
  • 33" and 35" scale necks.
  • Bonus ask, give us a better 4 string. 22-24 fret necks, better neck pocket with more/better screws, deeper lower cutaway. Something in the ballpark of the Fender Ultra line, the current Stingrays, Sandbergs, etc. A Gecko 4 string might be a stretch, but I'd take one.
The thing is, it's all CNC. Warmoth only needs to pay someone to write the file for these things one time. They could probably even get some preorder funding right here on this forum, much more from their own user page if they hadn't discarded it with the website update a few years ago. The first two are probably a couple days of CAD work each, pretty cheap. Warmoth just doesn't prioritize bass very much, even where it would be profitable; the same investment yields them more on guitar. To their credit, the did do the short-scale line. At the same time it's $90 to move a pickup position 0.75", which takes approximately 5 minutes.

Ideally if we get enough responses I would be happy to collate them all and send them to Warmoth. If we could evidence a strong demand for certain options, I think there is a precedent that they do listen and introduce new offerings. Capri Orange, for example, was introduced in response to demand.

I totally understand why they would prioritise guitar - that's business - but my sense is that bassists are waving dollars in their face for new options.

A year ago I had the perception that they were a bit overwhelmed, but then the new Olive Drab finish indicated that there was some R&D happening in the paint dept, and then the Dinky S J-bass style guitar, which seemed a bit gratuitous/unnecessary, made me think that maybe they are now casting around for new product ideas? If they can take a bass body and offer it speculatively to guitar customers, why not give us some of the amazing options guitarists get to choose from? :laugh: Meanwhile the comments I saw from guitarists were not especially complimentary ;)

Anyway, so far, seems like the collective desire seems to be for:
  • More headstock shapes (trivially easy from a CNC programming point of view)
  • Pickup route/bridge options - reverse-P pickup route, plus Hipshot A for four-string (also quite easy CNC but not sure legally they can always mention trademarks)
  • Additional body shapes like bullet P, gecko 4, T-bass SSB, and some more modern Jazz/P options with better cutaways (straightforward but not trivial CNC; requires some design R&D over and above CNC programming)
  • Scale conversion necks (more complex from a math/CNC perspective but very doable and they have the expertise)
  • Wood and finish were only mentioned once so far but obviously that would be great if supply chains permit. Bring back Rosewood and Canary necks! I've heard them say that nitro on bodies is definitely not happening so that's probably not one to ask for.

Anybody have experience with a J Bass 5 in-line MIM neck?

I've been on the lookout for a 20 fret Jazz 5 neck to pair with a Fender USA body I have, and I'm trying to decide between buying a Fender AM Pro ii neck or spending even more on a custom Warmoth build (quartersawn, binding).

Not sure how I feel about the 5 in-line design, they seem more prone to cracking by the B string.

Hi all.
So when I got the email a few months ago about a special run of OD Green for guitar finishes, I emailed Warmoth and asked for the same finish on a Dinky Jazz. Well, it was approved and now it's a common color option. Nevertheless, here's my and possibly the first ODG Warmoth Jazz Custom.
I put my fav neck on it as well as all my fav parts. There's a hole for a side jack and 9v battery compartment in the back to add an older East pre from a Pavel years ago.
The other Dinky is my take on a Hybrid 60's Jazz w/Fender pups, bridge, plate, VERY thin decal and more. Considering selling the Black/Rosewood but it's such a buyers market I don't think I'll even get what I have into it in just parts alone, =(

That OD looks even better than I thought. I may have to do a PBass myself.

Agreed! The matte ODG looks amazing! I tried different lighting to hopefully bring out the true color as if in person.
Roasted Alder body, Roasted Maple neck Slim taper w/Graphite rods and blocks. Hipshot hardware, CTS Pots, big orange tone cap, Aguilar 60's pups. Roughly 8.8lbs. Leveled & crowned the frets for great action and playability on both of em.

I would like to see a 5 string 24 fret multiscale 37"-34" neck with a couple of body options to go with it. I would prefer full access to the upper frets. Maybe one or two traditional bodies and one or two more interesting offerings. I think they would sell like crazy.
