I assembled my first Warmoth in the early aughts. It was an EB body with a boatneck Strat neck in padauk. I installed two Rio Grande humbuckers and a five way blade switch. That was a fabulous guitar! Sold it to a friend many years ago.
My second was a Gecko in early 2006. It has Barts, and I have two three way switches to select neck coil, both coils, or bridge coil for each pickup. The controls are VVT. I don’t play it much these days, as I gravitate towards the 34” scale, and you can see - I like narrow string spacing!
I just placed an order for a G5, swamp ash, dual P2, VVT, kickass bridge, in transparent gloss blue finish. And the neck is the Warmoth 5, roasted maple, roasted maple fretboard, graphite rods, 6100 stainless steel, abalone dots, 24 frets. So, now I wait 16ish weeks!!!
Anyway, I don’t have pics of the guitar, but here are a few of the Gecko!

I feel compelled to add the reason I pulled the trigger on a custom order through Warmoth… ln the past couple of months, I have been through three brand-new basses which each had quality issues. The first was an Ibanez SR5FMDX2, second was an Ibanez SR1425B, and the third was a Warwick Rockbass Corvette Basic. Each had issues of sloppy workmanship (the Ibanezes especially), and issues which put their potential longevity in doubt to my mind. And all of them cost around the same or more than this Warmoth build. So, I will get a bass that is built to my specifications, in a color I really want, which will be beautiful to behold at the same price as mid-to-upper-tier imports. I have high expectations, because I have built two before and know the quality I have seen.

I love the shape of that headstock that looks like an in between the Fender and Peavy.
Roasted alder body
Roasted maple neck
Rosewood board
Body and neck were worked with Tru Oil. 16 coats for the body, 4 for neck, 2 for fretboard. Neck was also burnished.
Jazz neck with as vintage sized frets and steel truss.
Fralin pickups
Hipshot bridge and tuners
Control plate wire for vbt
TI flats are on it now, but that will change.
It's Warmoth's Warhead. So happy they started adding this as a headstock option. I've never liked Fender headstocks.

So far I like them, but I'm not in a position to make an honest assessment yet. The TI flats on there now aren't the best strings to assess the pickups range and dynamics. The TI's are only on it because they were the only strings I had that fit the stock nut profile and I needed to test. I get my nut files today so I'll be stringing some heavier rounds on it later. I'll have a more honest assessment then.
Hi Warmoth owners ! Could someone please post a photo of a dinky j bass full scale 34” next to a regular size jazz bass ? I did a couple searches but not finding a good side by side comparison photo. If someone has both and you could get a pic of them maybe lying on the floor tight together that would be most helpful. I’m interested in the dinky but have never seen one in real life. I own multiple jazz basses and I like the body style but they all seem a bit big and heavy.

I don't have the Dinky J, but I do have a 1999 Fender Precision next to my 2001 Dinky P carved top.

Here ya go. A warmth dinky next to a fender jazz. (sunburst) The butt ends are just about the same but it's the horns that are slimmer. They are really pretty close in size. The Warmoth being less bulbous. If you were to draw a line from the center of the waists, top to bottom, the Warmoth is 9" and the Fender is 9 3/4". Top strap button to butt strap button, the Warmoth is 20" and the Fender is 20 1/2". I hope that helps.

Question for everyone and anyone. Does anyone else have a carved top Warmoth? I can’t be the only one. Also, who has an older Warmoth? Mine is a 2001

Yea, the bass is a dinky jazz and a standard warmoth Precision neck. I like tight string spacing on my 5'ers. Here is the whole thing...
The first warmoth I put together was in 1988. I still have the neck, but the body suffered at the hands of my exploration period of working on my own basses and I eventually modded it beyond usefulness. Looking back, I could have salvaged the body but during a potential divorce I was dumping everything for a clean getaway and a lot of my scrap parts got tossed.
