Anyone have pics of a Padouk lam top from Warmoth by chance? If so, would love to see it in either satin or gloss. My fear with Warmoth's isolator/grain fill coat is that it would make the wood grain seem very distant in satin.

I've image searched and have seen many oil finishes on Warmoth Padouk applied after manufacturing, but not many satin/gloss finishes, and Warmoth said they only do a few a year, so it seems like volume is pretty low.

I am going to be putting up an ad in the classifieds soon for this bass if any Warmoth owners are interested. It has a fretless rosewood neck (*roasted maple and roasted alder body and now has fender super 55 pickups and a hipshot b bridge.

I may have mentioned this earlier, but I'd love to see the mooncaster with no binding and a big edge radius ( like 3/8th, or even half an inch!). Something reminiscent of a 4005 (without binding)...

Pulled the trigger on an order last night. So it won't come for a little while but probably not too long. Planning this to be a backup/alternate 5 string for my cover band. Right now I am using a Warmoth FNA Jazzman 5, possibly my favorite bass. This bass however, will be more Spector-ish. It started with a Screaming Deal neck I decided to jump on:

Black Korina veneer on the peghead

It is a really nice looking neck, and the price was excellent. I had planned on waiting a while before pulling the trigger on the body, but....well you all know how that can go.

Planning to keep this pretty simple, doing a good Tru Oil finish on the neck and body of the bass. Black hardware and screws, all of which I have ordered save for the bridge (Hipshot A 5 String in black, preferably Brass)

For pickups and Preamps, planning to use the EMG 40P5 and 40J pickups with the LHZ preamp. I think it will be a fun build!

Is anybody aware of any fit issues with Gotoh GB640 tuners with Warmoth's warhead headstock? They are about 5cm at their max vertical width and I am worried the G string tuner may be too big.

Should not matter.
The 60s / 70s Jazz basses had different pickup placement for the bridge pickup. That will not affect the pickguard. The bodies are the same.

I did a warmth Jazz build a while back, and used a standard pick guard off of a modern Fender.

Some PGs have that little cut out for the truss rod adjustment - you may or may not want that. Other than that, I think any "Fender" jazz bass PG will work.

My experience is the same as @hennessybass

I bought a 10 hole anodized aluminum pg that specified only that it was for an American Jazz. Fit fine, looks great.

I actually would suggest using their pickguards as there are sometimes some slight variations in their bodies vs what Fender uses, depending on the model.

I believe the only unique pick guard requirement is if you order the Dinky J body style, otherwise most aftermarket styles should work with the standard J body.

The Warmoth P Bass pg that I have does not have a truss rod notch.

And, their website shows no notch on their Jazz pg.

I think the website is pretty accurate as far as what it shows. For their more proprietary models I think they try to include it since it's their own design. The '72 P bass falls under that for sure.

Yeah, I noticed when perusing their pg's that they weren't notched. Just hoping that I could've added a notch out in the notes. Warmoth confirmed with me that they stopped offering notch outs decades ago.

They've always been available for 34". You just needed to make a note when placing an order that you want a warhead headstock instead of 7ender. But it's good to see that they've got their own page now.

Has anyone ever put 5 strings on a 4 string Warmoth Neck?

I like Ibanez 5s, and a 4 string Warmoth is only about 2mm narrower.

I feel like it'd be plenty stable with the standard profile, quatersawn maple, and steel rods.

My new build. Ash body with a wudtone finish (done by the previous owner of the body) EMG passive MM pickup, roasted maple neck, ziricote fretboard, labella flats. This thing is a beast. The neck is absolute butter. Took it to Brady Muckelroy, formerly of Muckelroy Bass Guitars, and he rolled the fretboard edges and got it set up perfectly (if you’re in the San Marcos Tx area, I highly recommend hitting him up for any guitar or bass work). This is the best feeling neck I’ve ever played and the ziricote board looks great.
