Yup, The Nordstrand Jazz pickups fit perfect into the rout/body on the Jazz body. But the Nordstrand pickups don't come with any springs...T

Actually for traditional style J pickups and P pickups for that matter, you want to use foam, not springs, because the bobbins are not glued to the cover. They will fall out of the cover and sink into the body if springs are used and they are not glued/taped to the covers.

Will Warmoth do a reverse P route? Specifically, I'd want one on one of the short/medium scale Jazz bodies.

As far as I know, yes they can. I did ask about this a while ago, and I was told there would be an additional charge of $45 for the custom work to make this happen.

Maybe someday I'll order a body with a reversed route.

Can anyone tell me...like whats the average price of a p bass, completely build, with some nice boutique pickup (nordstrand, novak, lollar, etc.), finished by warmoth, neck finished as well....how much have you guys spend on a warmoth build?

I'm interested in a custom p bass...I guess at about 800??

You can go to the Warmoth site and build your own bass body and neck using the interactive tools there to see the price for the wood.

Then just add the hardware you'd like using online shopping.

As far as the build cost goes, that's between you and whoever does the build.

Plan on spending over $1k unless you don't care about exotic finishes or custom options on the wood.

When I got my Warmoth parts, I also got something that I thought was a waterslide decal. You know, the turtle and the name. Today I found out that they are two stickers.
Anyone else got those? Because I read that most people get waterslide decals.
And can I cover them with some lacquer so they don't fray? My bass neck has the clear satin finish, so any idea as to what lacquer I should use over the stickers and the color remains the same, would be most welcome.

I got a bumper sticker along with my wood, but that's it.

Honestly, I got the parts in September and just yesterday I checked the -what I thought it was- decal. I really prefer the stickers, much easier to put. Only concern is how to make them permanent, without destroying the finish.

I was doing that last night and saw that for a jazz 5er, finished body and neck was gonna be about 700...not bad..a little steeper than I imagined...but not bad.

After pickups, tuning machines, knobs and a bridge, you'll be looking at another couple of hundred at least.

I was lucky, I had a guy I know do my assembly for under $100.00.

Pull the trigger if you can; it's worth it (to me, anyway) to have a one-of-a-kind instrument that's uniquely yours. Resale value is not going to be so awesome, of course...

What kind of string retainer would you put on a Deluxe 5 (4+1) Jazz neck? That's the LAST detail I'm missing to complete my project and then order the parts...

Would you include the B string in the retainer? Is it necessary? The G string? Maybe the 3 middle strings only?

Do you maybe know where to find a Sadowsky-like bar retainer?

Personally I would use the 3 string retainer from Hipshot and do the middle strings. The B and the G tuners are close to the nut and will have good break angle if you wind the strings properly.

I always rest assured that the winding on the tuner is enough so that the string is the "lowest" possible... You see what I mean?

If both of the pickup shells are the same size, then the answer is yes. Warmoth's routes work with most 5-string P-bass pickups including those made by Delano, Bartolini, Nordstrand (with angled pole pieces) and others.

I don't think Warmoth will route for the unequal-sized shells such as the Fender 5-string P-bass stock pickup, as well as its replacements by Wilkinson (commonly seen on eBay) or Nordstrand (sold without shells).

I have a 32" neck on order from Warmoth and it is drilled for the BML lites...But I have a set of Hipshot 1/2" Ultralight Clover tuners that I have been told will fit fine in those holes
I should have my neck in a week and I'll be able to tell you if they fit

So... Do they actually fit?
