Warrior Club Part 2

* New standard plastic Barts installed
* Parallel humbucking/Single coil/Series humbucking coil taps for each pickup
* Bartolini preamp returned to stock specs and removed that garbage 'sparkle' circuit

This has easily become the favorite bass I've owned so far with these mods. Vic was 100% correct with his term of the custom 'sparkle' and 'fat' circuit choking the sound of the bass! Night and day. It's fatter, wider low mids (eq flat), and that shrill high end is gone. :hyper:

The coil taps have given me an unbelievable range of tones, it looks like a lot to mess with but I thought with having the quad coil p/ups, I might as well have all the versatility they offer.

I'm going to have to take that circuit out of mine.

Wow, first of all, BEAUTIFUL BASS! I can easily believe that thing is capable of an amazing range of sounds, holy crap, does that thing juice vegetables too? ;) Did you do all the work yourself?

And thanks for the validation on the sparkle junk. I knew it was an improvement for me, but it's always nice to hear it's not just me, either. :)

Vic, I may have to put you in touch with my bass tech to give him the specifics of taking that out. Does anyone have any before and after sound clips? That would be ideal.

I don't want to sound unhelpful, but really, there's no need. There are no special considerations. Just remove it and redo it to the standard Bart wiring diagram. I did it with no help or guidance at all, and any qualified tech easily has as much skill as I (likely more). Anybody who's ok with soldering small wires and can follow a simple wiring diagram can do it. The only thing a tech will need is a couple parts, because the stuff you take out can't be used for a standard wiring. It's a 1.5K ohm resistor and a 5K trim pot (but that's all in the wiring diagram too).

It's really a simple change, and if one was careful, the circuit could even be re-installed if it came to that based on personal prefs.

No sir, did not do any of the mods myself, my resident electronics/luthier genius handled the dirty work. And BTW it makes a fine green apple & celery juice, thanks for asking :D

No clips but all that is required is disconnecting (ripping out and throwing against the wall :spit:) the 2 trim pots already installed, and replacing with the correct value trim and capacitor as shown in the first page here Invalid Link Removed Really simple and completely worth it IMO.

Given the other two basses in that picture alone (I have no idea what other basses you have owned), I would say that this statement is huge. Gives a lot of credence to what many of us have been saying about our Warriors.

Check my profile for my basses past ;)

Thanks all for the kind words - Mickey

EDIT Vic splaind' mod yo.

That's a lot of nice basses. Glad to hear it's at the top of your list. Every time someone touches mine, they are blown away.

Thanks. I've got the MM/J pickups, and I've been considering putting a coil switch on the MM. I think someone has done that on here, but I don't remember who. I would love to see what other options that opens up.

Well, at least the pickup coil tapping is unrelated. All that happens before the preamp. I've never really cared enough to dig up more detail on all the possible wiring options for the preamp itself. I'm completely happy with it wired "stock". :)

OK, I need a little help. My wife is trying to order me the white strap mentioned on [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] page, and is having no luck. It says to call 706.891.3009 to order, but she said it goes right to voicemail and says a different number than the one listed.

I'd really like for her to be able to order that for me. Any ideas on how to order this thing?

Who here has a fitted warrior bass soft case? As I am in need of a soft case that doesn't mean breaking the bank and I don't particularly want to get some case that is too big or useless. Any ideas would be great.

I have had 2 Warriors come in bags. The bags were Levys gig bags, just like this one, with a Warrior logo on them. They fit the bass snug and they are great. High quality. I carry all my basses in them.

I have a Warrior (Black Leather) Alligator gig bag... it was JD's personal bag (Also appears to be a Levy's)

On another track...

Has anyone tried FLATS on their Warrior? I use Sadowsky Flats on all my other basses (except for my AEB Sigma). I'm thinking it's about time to try them out.
