Warrior Club Part 2

Wow thanks for the response and help guys, I'm so glad I wasted my time on these posts.
You've gone into great detail about a lot of very specific things that you did/are doing and I for one have no idea what your bass sounds like or what you would like it to sound like.. What kind of suggestions do you want? How 'bout, don't cut the red wire!!

Yeah, you're right. I sent it back last week and he is doing all of the work for free w/ some extras. I'm pretty sure there is an admin break down. Warrior needs a "Jason DeSalvo" connecting w/ customers. I believe the duds come from over commitments, poor planning then rushing to compensate. Its a shame b/c they have a unique product and a loyal fan base. Basic "Good to Great" principles

1. Know your roll- JD is the visionary/ master builder. Stick w/ that. I have never and probably will never speak directly w/ Vinnie Fodera, Ken Smith or George Furlinetto, but I have and WILL continue to buy their basses.

2. Trust your team- I'm sure there a current person on staff or a young marketing/ PR intern that can handle all communication and an admin person to handle the building que.

I'm definitely a Warrior fan. I'll load some sound samples when I get it back. It sounds and feels amazing. Even with the flaws. I personally think they should switch to Fralin or Nordstrand pickups and a better pre amp. None of that "mid frequency switch" stuff.

Can anybody else weigh in on the topic?

I would agree. I was endorsed by J.D. Back in 1999 when he was running his guitar shop and doing this on the side.

My bass is awesome and is my favorite bass, but I think the whole thing got too big too quick. It is still a small run business, just try calling them at certain times. Phone will ring for days. For example, my mother tried to call and get the 5 sets of strings for a 100. Called several times for several days, when a person picked up, the lady said she could not help her and someone would get back with her.

I think there website is confusing and not very user friendly and should create online store.

J.D. and the Warrior family are awesome and will do anything to make their customers happy, but they need someone to run the business end like Gard at Roscoe. Sounds like a mircomanage problem.

Don't know really what you looking for in tone. It's a hit and miss deal with tone. I had two warriors and one sounded good with the Bart's I put in and the other with stock pickups is a little more mellow in tone. You going to have to try some different combination until you find it or try another bass like I end up doing. Good luck.

Good insight. I never thought about how fast they grew. When I first heard about Warrior (2001) it was way out of my price range and SUPER exclusive. It seems like the market may have gotten over saturated. You can see a basic Dran bolt-on on ebay for $1400.

I wasn't completely satisfied with my last build and he built me a new neck w/ extras for free. You'd hope to get it right the first time, but their customer service holds true. JD will do anything to make you happy.

He also shared with me that the company had lost two key members. Image if Fodera lost two key guys.
