Just snapped up the last one of these on Amazon, but they do have more that they say will ship in 1 to 2 months. Here are some specs: US Swamp Ash body Ovangkol neck Wenge fingerboard Active MEC 2-way electronics Including "Premium Line Plus" RockBag® for electric bass www.amazon.com/Warwick-Corvette-Electric-String-Finish/dp/B000FVE63G/ref=sr_1_11?s=STORE&ie=UTF8&qid=1282619134&sr=1-11
Nice score and no they probably won't sell them at that price in 1-2 months...odd though usually it says 2-3 weeks in that field IIRC
Pretty sure you can order one now and it will ship in 1 to 2 months is what they are saying. All the other sites I have checked have this bass for $1899.
Hi Talkbass forum, newb here, I've just registered to post something about this " deal ". Last month I ordered exactly one same described item, same link, same everything from Amazon when it went down to $1159.98 when everyone else sells for $1899. Overnight shipping and the guitar's shown up at my door next day, it turned out to be a Rockbass version 2010 Made in China, and NO deluxe rockbag bag included. Obviously it was not what I expected, the pics, premium rockbag included as in their description, MSRP $2600 price etc...made me think its a " real " German made Warwick, it's NOT. The guitar returned to Amazon 10 min after I received it, and 5 weeks later I've still been waitting for the refund as of now. What a waste of time. When something's too good to be true, it is, at least in my case. Cheers, Danny
Thanks for posting, particularly about their return policy. Call your credit card company if you haven't already.
I got scared for a minute because I thought I was going to have to throw down some bucks, again, here. Don't want to add another downer to this thread, but I am certain they screwed up and that's a rockbass they're talkin about.
thanks for the great info. i guess they did not screw you up, they made a mistake that seems to hurt amazon.com and not the buyer. their price, $699 , for the Rockbass Corvette $$ including the W bag is rather low compared to the usual sale price you might find in the big on-line stores. it costs everywhere $899. yesterday i got an offer of $750 from an eBay store. i rejected it because the gig bag was not included. i do not really know this instrument, i have never tried it. i like it because swamp ash is considered among the best woods for the body. what do you like about it? is it worth waiting for 1-2 months, what do you think?
The photos and description match up with a Corvette 5 $$, but the price is for the Rockbass Corvette 5 $$. In the latest Musician's Friend catalog, they have a photo of a Rockbass Corvette 5 $$, but the description and price is for a Corvette 5 $$. I contacted them by email to point out the discrepancy, but they essentially blew me off without acknowledging their error! A Groove is a Terrible Thing to Waste!
Well, mine hasn't been cancelled by Amazon yet and it is supposed to be delivered by the 30th, I'll let you all know. Good point though, even if it ithe rockbass version, it is still $200 less than other places. I don't think I would keep it though since I already have a Rockbass Streamer that plays pretty nicely.
I guess Amazon doesn't aware of their mistake about this sell, so it might not be much help even you contact Amazon to find out. And as long as the Rockbass is your target then you would be fine. And as I stated above, this deal does NOT include a gigbag ( again, its Amazon's mistake ) just a Chinese Rockbass itself in Honey violin, brand new with manual and a nylon bag with trussrod tool and 02 allen keys, in a carton box, that's what I received. I think you can get a better deal on eBay if you're searching around. To answer the question above, the Rockbass version 2010 is a very nice bass, light weight ( 8lbs or less ) and I really can't tell its a rockbass except it doesnt have the two mini switches, and the " W " headstock is white plastic something vs the real abalon look, and chrome hardware comparing to black hardware on the German one. Warwick upgrades the Rockbass so much now, its really hard to tell the difference between the two versions. According to Warwick forum, the rockbass 2010 sounds a bit different from the Warwick might be due to the wood and lower quality electronics. I think the $699 price tag is still a OK deal for the Rockbass corvette $$ 2010, I returned it because it was not what I'm looking for, plus I paid much more than it is now. One more thing to consider, Amazon charges sale tax in many states now depends on where you live, some stores like Music123 does not ( $0.00 tax ) to orders shipped to NY where I live.
I order tons of stuff from Amazon and I have tons of problems with it, too. I never have any serious beef getting them to make it right. If you haven't gotten a refund, let them know as something has slipped between the cracks on this. The stuff they sell is listed as it was by the dubious suppliers from which they got this remaindered, distressed and otherwise odd merchandise. The descriptions and pictures are often screwed up as a result, which is a legitimate reason to get free shipping back and a refund. They NEVER give me trouble about this. NEVER.
Update: Bass arrived today and it is NOT a rockbass. It is a German made $$ . I was all set to send this back and when I opened it and saw the brass frets, I almost fell on the floor. Opened it more and saw the toggles for the humbuckers and then looked in the cavity and there was the 9V for the active pickups. Flipped it over and saw made in Germany !!!!!
Sweeeeeeeeeeeet! I am super happy for you, somewhat sad for me that I didn't order one. Can I still order one?
Wow, GREAT score! Enjoy it! I had one of those, and it's a truly fantastic and versatile bass. Sadly, GAS got the better of me (and my lack of knowledge with how to find the right tones...still learning, but I know far more now) and I traded it...stupid move.
WOW!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS A STEAL!!!!!!! Very tempting-I might have to make a move on one of these!!!! A Groove is a Terrible Thing to Waste!
