Warwick Katana; what is it that you don't like?

The first pic I saw was a natural one, looked like a blob of Silly Putty.
Seriously, paint it green and it'd be perfect for Gumby, but that's just the Warwick look, I guess.
Personally, I don't care if a bass I like gets a bad rap because the only opinion that matters is mine.
I like the Yamaha sbv-500. Looks weird to some people but so what?

Katanas were new to me; had to look them up on the Warwick web site. Sorry, not for me. I do like the fact I could get a lefty (sadly, not often the case), and they do look interesting. Warwicks are nice basses; but, unfortunately (??), the spot in my herd for ""expensive, boutique-y looking, active 4-string bass" is more than adequately filled by an Alembic, thank you... :)

If you like it, that's all that should matter.

Do not let anyone make these choices for you. Unless someone else is paying for my instruments, they have no right to influence my decision.

Personally, my favorite bass (which I cannot afford) would be the Ritter Jupiter 6 in a Black Piano finish. Anytime I see this posted online, it is always followed by a landslide of individuals who do not care for it.

I did buy the bass and I love it so much I turned around and got the 5 string version. Only negative on the 5 is it added some weight where the 4 string was kinda right at my weight limit. But the comfortability of the bass more than makes up for it. I totally agree w/AxtoOx on that and the balancing part too. I just don't know why most of you are so turned off about them. I have let several of my bass playing friends try it and they were all impressed, one so much so he wanted to buy it from me right away. One thing I really like about it is it sounds great through just about any amp. I can't say that about all my other Basses. And 1 thing is not true about it. While it may have the same pickups as a lot of Corvettes, Thumbs, or Streamers, it doesn't sound anything like them. Warwick must do something unique with the electronics in them. Also they may be pricey, but for a quality German build NT I don't see where it's any more so than any other quality comparables. As to the looks, when you actually see and feel one, you get a completely different impression than just looking at a photo. I too think they are unique and I like that in a bass. Long ways from ugly. Oh—and on 1 other note, they are light years above and better than the BO version especially in playability and sound.
