Yeah probably my only complaint, so far... he sounds like hes trying to hard to get a gravelly voice... sounds unnatural...

I disagree. I could understand the guy in the trailer, but I needed Cesar Millan's help to understand Bale.
Plus, I think Bale's voice had a digital warble intentionally put on it to suggest it was the suit that scrambled his voice, But it was a bit too subtle to detect unless you go back and listen a few times...
I'm sick of the whole "gravelly voice" thing. Why can't a super hero be well-spoken and eloquent?
Because Rorschach is a psychotic man, I imagined his voice sounding like that but not gravelly.
Honestly, Watchmen may be the best graphic or non graphic novel I've ever read. It's sorta like real philosophy in a simple (or complex, whatever your perspective) format. Every one of Dr. Manhattan's lines made me think deeply, even though I had already pondered such things deeply his lines phrased them perfectly, same with characters such as the Comedian and Rorschach. Hopefully, if the film stays true to the novel, it will bring such ideas to masses of people.
But hey, 90% of superhero films end up failing, but at least it might be slightly entertaining.
But its trying to make money, so it won't. Most people don't go to the cinema to think, they go for escapism.
it's a tall order, but it looks righteously dark. I really hope it does the book justice (hooded or not).

I picked up the graphic novel last week after seeing the trailer and I just finished it a little while ago...absolutley amazing. On of the best things I've read in a long time.
I've been poking around the movie's website and from all of the trailer shots I can see they are sticking true to the graphic novel, while I have heard that they tweaked the ending...which is iffy for me, but as long as they keep the same feel/tone/message from the original I'm not to concerned with the mechanism.
I think the casting is fine - people expect a younger look to super heroes, and the voices for Rorshache and Jon are spot on I think.
A big +1 to whoever said that Ozymandaius is alot darker looking in the movie than before. I dunno if I like it. Meh..
There's supossedly a directors cut version coming out with the pirate parallel story interspersed and film sequences of the book/autobiography from whats-his-name..and it's about 3 hours long they say. I can't wait to sit down and digest that with my dvd player.
Anyway, I'm excited to see it, I'll probably re-read the comic in a week.
I think this is meant to be seen in Imax, at least the first time
btw - I've never read a comic before in my life, so I'm probably not what you'd call a "die-hard" comic fan - I loved 300, the Dark Knight, and V for Vendetta, all of which involved a lot of the same production cast/supervisors as Watchmen - some people will like that, some people wont.
I went out and bought the graphic novel this past weekend. I normally read Green Lantern, Wolverine, sometimes Hellblazer and occasionally spidey. This is by far one of the best if not the best I have read in a long time. I look forward to the movie and I hope that they get it right.

I'm going to wait and see it a week later in Imax over spring break - the wait is gonna be crazy
I know the feeling. I'm planning on going on the 17th...could go earlier, but it wouldn't be IMAX (the closest one is like a 3 hour drive, so it has to be planned a bit).
It'll be good though, I'm stoked.
3 hour drive, 3 hour movie....oy, that's a haul, even before you get on yer way home....
this could potentially be an epic imax movie...but i think im going to see it in a normal theater first, just in case
