Unfortunately, this is not the high-end hand-made tube preamp for me. Unless D'Addario can furnish me strings with the effective speaking lengths of: 34", 34.75", 35.5", 36.25", 37".
I guess I'll hold on to my money and play the other high-end hand-made tube preamps I already own and keep an eye out for other preamps that don't have string requirements.

...which makes one ponder the quality of the preamp if it sounding good depends on a specific string.

I don't come out here drunk or high on anything. How can you classify my responses as "cryptic"? Once, when I was very young I owned a bass amplifier that had a good tonal quality, and now I've figured out how to make a new bass amplifier behave as it should. Any thing else you want to know?
So can you explain what you were on about with the above two posts?
Neither of these answers seem to correspond to what the original post was talking about. I understand that you've made a pre-amp that you think has great tone, but it hasn't really been demonstrated (unless I somehow missed it?) besides through a Keyboard amp....through which I didn't really notice a difference. Maybe a nice review through a bass amp and some digital pedals to actually prove what you're claiming would help us better understand.
