Way huge Pork and Pickle

The Sabbath riffs I just replied with were done with Dunlop Flats, and I posted a review a page or two back that had TI's.
Really good point! A flip of a switch would be cool to go from fuzz to OD. It's not ideal but it could work well depending. But I see why some think it's lame that you can't use both effects at once in different ways. OTOH, I think he designed it the way it is for reasons. If he wanted to go the way of the Camel Toe, he would've. Tripps ain't no dummy.
Mine arrived (well, I picked it up from the post office) and plugged it up last night... THICK. LOVE IT. both the fuzz and the OD are great! I had a B3k and an Aguilar Fuzzistor on the board... of which it took the space of the fuzzistor. Immediately found a very 70'sish burly fuzz tone that made me not regret the purchase at all. fidgeting around with found other cool tones. I don't care a lick that you can't blend them... I think this is a great pedal!
If it is possible to manage volumes via internal trimpots, why are you saying that both effects can't be stack together? Once you set them with the same output it should work, right?
The trim pots just adjust the volume of either OD or Fuzz separately. There's no way to mix both OD and the fuzz together and stack them that way.
Ok, understood. I thought it was something similar to the Hudson Broadcast, which have two separate trimpots to adjust the gain of each channel AND separate output control for both channels.

I play 2 very different gigs- one experiment stoner proggy stuff that I use 3 basic tones: dirty, filthy, and Porn Star on Molly. The other band (that actually has people come to shows I might add) is a heartland rock bluesy soul with a little white boy reggae thrown in here and there...
What I wanted the minute I saw this pedal was something to bridge the gap between my cleanest dirty tones for the one and the clean tone of the other... and the ability to do both in the place of where a single purpose fuzz was was a huge bonus!
Like I said in my previous post, I loved the pedal the moment I took it out of the box... but the lowest setting of OD was still in the range of what I already had with my Aguilar AG500...
So finding the pic of the internals ( THANK YOU— THUNDERPAWS) I pulled out the screw driver and dialed back the OD level significantly and increased the fuzz slightly. Plugged it in and bam! That’s what I was looking for!
The od, with the drive level almost totally counterclockwise is the warm Neve-ish preamp break that I was looking for- sounds like the 70’s... bell bottoms and 8-tracks galore. This is the sound I want for “not clean, but not dirty either”... Crank the drive up a bit and it’s the gritty and dirty but still warm and saturated... since the pedal sits slightly higher than the rest of my board, it’s easily foot tweakable if want.
Flip the switch and the Fuzz is brutal! Immediately made me play Hysteria!
Since learning that OD->Fuzz->Distortion is a continuum i’ve tried to find amps and pedals that get me the widest swath of that range... I think the Pork & Pickle does that in spades!
Hopefully I can pull together some sound clips tomorrow...
Oh and for reference here’s my board (the Grand Orbiter may well find a new home once Aguilar releases the Purple Phaser)

I was about to pull the trigger on a Russian Pickle. Can anyone tell if I can get a true Russian Pickle tone out of this? By what I've read, I'd need to turn the clean blend all the way down and flip the switch to fuzz (duh). Is this correct? What about the clean tone setting? And, does it use the 'real Russian components' like the Russian Pickle?
Also, any reason they put 'bass' on it? Is it tuned differently from the originals?
If it's able to do a real Russian Pickle sound, I will buy this for sure. The Pork Loin side will be there just for fun at the moment, but it's nice to have. If there's not a 100% Russian Pickle inside, I'm going for a 'true' way huge Russian Pickle, though. Thanks!

I've heard that both sides of the circuit in the Pork & Pickle have been tweaked to allow more low end than their separated counterparts, which (along with adding the clean blend to the Pickle side) would explain why it's branded as a bass pedal. I haven't heard the two compared to see if that's true, but even if it is I wouldn't expect a significant deviation from the originals.
The clean tone knob won't (or shouldn't) do anything if you have the clean blend all the way off.
Hmm. I'm wonderrng if they've done anything about the headroom of the clean side of this pedal. The old Pork Loin definitely has issues in this respect when used with bass. E string causes some real nasties. There's another thread on here somewhere discussing it. I seem to remember sound clips too.
Just waiting on some cash to roll in, then I'm pouncing on this bad boy. I've had a Russian Pickle, liked it a lot. But I flipped it because it ended up being a tad too dark for me. I'm thinking that having a blend and added output will do the trick nicely. can't wait!
I also like the all the "tone" knobs. This is a big plus as well. Really well thought out pedal if you ask me. Aside from the 2 circuits not really interacting with one another. Sucks, but not a deal breaker for me.
If I wasn't so overly flush with dirt pedals, I'd already have it.
Only one video so far. Way Huge doesn’t even have one yet! I need more convincing to cough up my $170.

It's in pickle size box and has also loin in it. Yet it costs as much as one pedal. If you don't have either, it's definitely a good deal.
Why would you want to stack it, if you can't control the pedals separately? And if you already have one, just buy the other and you have your cameltoe with the ability to switch the order.
What if you want to use OD in a verse and fuzz in a chorus? Seriously? And i'm supposed to believe that guys who ask this question will rip all the other OD and fuzz pedals off their boards and just use the ONE from now on.
How about this: Let's say they made it in cameltoe form factor. What if you want to use OD into Fuzz in a verse and Fuzz into OD in a chorus? You'd have to crouch to flip the switch... Way Huge messed up again!!!
I have modded pork loin on my pedalboard. I'm still interested in getting the P&P for the size reduction and added sound options. I would never consider a cameltoe sized pedal if it only provided 2 effects in it.

The ability to blend the two types of dirt/OD seems to go down well in the Darkglass AO pedals. Its just another tone shaping option and i guess some are disappointed the two are kept apart, rather than working together.
I get that, but everything could always be better.
Darkglass AO costs roughly twice as much. And for all the guys that don't mind bigger foorprint, they can buy both Pickle and Loin for similar budget. They could even buy 2 Pork&Pickles. All options right there!
I'm just thinking, even if i wasn't interested in it, Way Huge P&P is a really good deal. Small box, 2 tones, tons of tweakability, affordable price.
I think it's rather nice that bass players don't have go digging in guitar pedals to find decent dirt pedal. Well done Way Huge.
Darkglass AO costs roughly twice as much. And for all the guys that don't mind bigger foorprint, they can buy both Pickle and Loin for similar budget. They could even buy 2 Pork&Pickles. All options right there!
