Way huge Pork and Pickle

Totally agree, its an amazing deal considering what it offers, but to me it looks like some hoped they could replace two pedals with one. Its just disappointment i guess. It will still sell by the bucket load.
I wasnt comparing the AO to the P&P, just saying that when a manufacturer added a blend people loved this, and its a shame this new pedal couldn't do it.
I have no need of a fuzz pedal, but to be able to add a bit of fuzz in on top or along with the standard PL tone would be nice. I couldn't justify having two pedals to do this, let alone have the space. Even if it were two pedals i wouldnt want to be stomping on two at the same time.

Ill be getting one anyway, to replace my PL (thats i only got last week). Its still two pedals in one with the same foot print, and i somehow feel more comfortable with the word 'bass' on it. I may not use the fuzz side, but then again who knows. Its there if i want it.
Id love to know how this new pedal stacks up against the PL though, without the fuzz. time will tell, as will YouTube i expect.

Keeping it simple, kept the price down.

I know, but making more complex pedal raises the price and makes it less appealing for the majority.

But others would say they want to be able to switch effects on independently. Having only one button prevents that. Minimal amount of buttons to do it by foot is 2, but then you need to press them simultaneously. Some even want to have the signal the other way around fuzz to OD...

The very fact that i use my PL more than any other dirt pedal has made me rethink that very thing. Doesn't have to be bass pedal, it has to sound good!

Through Ryan at Fuzzrocious's comments when he designed the MXR Bass Distortion for them, I've learned that this is the Dunlop/MXR mission statement. They're not working out of their garage and they don't have the luxury of being able to stop on a dime to do a custom build, and they have to concern themselves with price points a lot more than an indie builder. An indie can build a one off for $400 or more pretty easily, but when MXR has to build 1000 or more pedals in order to see any profit after tooling up for one, it gets incrementally harder to cater to everyone's slightest whims without risking big money by alienating those who don't want all the custom work. So while I'm sure you can find an indie builder to build your own custom version of the Pork and Pickle, it will cost you. Me, I'm quite happy when they simplify pedals. You can't dumb down a pedal enough for me.

That was pretty darn cool, that demo. Also, I have that Sub Octave Bass Fuzz, and while it's not for the faint of heart (meaning that it's all fuzz all the time), it's awfully cool as well.

Too many russians around, i´m confused:

So my last purchase was the little EHX Green Russian (reissue) and to my own surprise i like it a lot ... how similar is that EHX pedal compared to the Pickle Fuzz? Should i sell the EHX and replace it with the Pork & Pickle? What would you do?

I have swollen pickle and it's really "way huge". There is always a lot of someting (lows or highs). Russian pickle sounds like less brutal and clean channel could be handy. I ordered Pork & Pickle to replace my Swollen pickle.

I have the Green Russian too, and it's not going anywhere, despite me not liking it as much as my MXR Bass Distortion for live work. From what I've heard on demos, the Russian Pickle and GR sound similar, although it seems like there is less gain on tap in the RP from these demos. Still, very much the same vibe out of either.

Same boat, and thinking I can save a bit of board space by having an OD and Fuzz in the same stomper. ( I rarely, if ever, stack the two).

Well...expectations did not equal success. I had to send the new Pork and Pickle back. The fuzz was just what I was looking for, as I'm currently playing on the new Green Russian. (P&P fuzz is very similar.)
Perhaps the pedal was defective though, the OD and Fuzz switch positions gave me the exact same sound.
I tried different basses, thinking active vs. passive and different volume outputs may be the cause, but to no avail. ( defective toggle switch?)
I may try again in the future, but for now, I'll motor on with my SGFX Beta and EHX Green Russian in my chain.

Where did you buy it? I'd get a replacement. There definitely should be a pretty stark different between the OD & Fuzz regardless of how you have anything set.
