Ways to lock up an amp head?

Hey everyone!

If I’m posting in the wrong area let me know!

I wanted to ask if anyone knew any tricks on how to keep my Ampeg SVT classic locked up without having to purchase an amp safe. I rent space with my band and have my bass head there, and my drummer likes to bring random people into the spot to jam. Maybe I’m being petty but it’s an expensive head that I’ve finally gotten the chance to own and I don’t want it getting damaged. Might have to just buy a road case for it..

Let me know if there’s any tips to make it so only I can power it up!

I’d love to but it’s like 80 lbs

If it's "like 80 lbs" it's likely a tube amp. If the power cord is permanently attached, put a small padlock through the hole in one of the prongs that are inserted into a power outlet OR remove the tubes if you're really interested in preventing others from using it, but not interested enough to take it home.

Back in the 60's and 70's we all schlepped those heavy amps because lightweight amps that are powerful and sound good hadn't been invented yet. ;)

Why even comment if you’re gonna say slick ? I’m not lugging that thing up and down 2 flights of stairs every week.
Well, I didn’t mean to be snarky. I didn’t see that you had 2 flights of stairs to lug it.
Personally, I would use a light class D head for rehearsals. Or a junky one to leave there.

I never had a SVT probably because of the weight thing…

I also have an SVT Classic head and 810 cabinet, I also keep it in a shared space, and I worry about someone firing it up without a load or general mistreatment. I also will not bring it home every night. Mine is in a road case (>100 lbs total weight) and it's easy to lock. I do recall a lock you could put in your 1/4" input, but some quick Googling produces no results.
