Religions don't cause wars. Individuals take beliefs that are basically good and bastardize the interpretation to suit their own agenda. Another case-in-point is the situation in the Middle East. But that's another subject altogether.

This is obvious, but I don't think it can be stated enough. When someone purporting to be Christian behaves with such blatant hate, they need repeated denouncing.

It looks to me like an unfettered display of hate, anger, and self-righteousness. Hope the counter-protest (which I'm sure WILL be there) goes well, but the family and friends of Ronny James Dio deserve better than to see a fight break out at his funeral.

There is a special place in Hell for people like this. I am surprised that that haven't been stomped by now for protesting at a fallen soldier's funeral. They are shameful.

Where do you think a portion of their money comes from? They're all lawyers... there's a reason no on ever touches them. I have family in Topeka (home to the WBC), went to college there, and have dealt with quite a few members of that family - I have nothing else to say (if you don't have anything nice... :))

WBC is truly disgusting, but I've always enjoyed the idea that people have been "christian" enough not to run over them with a semi when they're "spreading the word."

How common are these types of things really? I recently ran across a group calling themselves True Christians (with a trademark and a spot in heaven guaranteed for the small minimum payment of at least 30% of your gross income, 100% if you're poor) and I spent a moment reading their forum filled with racism, hate and bigotry. And there were plenty of those lunatics.

The US Constitution guarantees the WBC's First Amendment Freedom of Speech rights. However, it says nothing about where they should be allowed to practice their right. I say send these douchebags about a mile or two down the road from the funeral, surround them with a huge PA system pumping out Dio's music and let them protest to their heart's content! Then, just like when the KKK comes a-calling, they can simply be ignored (which ruins their day).:D

You know what would impress me? If all of the Christians who sit around saying "the WBC are not true Christians, please don't judge the rest of us from the WBC's behavior" would actually do something about it. Hold an intervention. Get some professional deprogrammers and reeducate these brainwashed clods. Officially denounce them from a world-respected Christian pulpit. Form the same kind of human barriers at WBC protests that are currently formed by biker gangs. Stand up for what you believe in, if you don't want to be judged as complicit.

I'm actually pretty sure that this is just Satire. I took a look at a few of the illustrated stories and I noticed more than a few points at which they made fun of the stories....

As for the WBC:

I'm tired of hearing about them. Every time I hear that they went to another funeral or protested another function of any sort, it makes me want to learn how to throw axes.

I'm an Atheist, but I have many friends (and a few ex-gf's) who are religious. They're generally nice people who don't push and everyone tends to respect each others boundaries. The WBC are the kinds of organizations that destroy any progress that Religious and Non-Religious people have made in getting along on common spiritual and mutually understood grounds.

They can't sue anyone if they don't find the person, can they? I'm just saying....... I'm sure I can round up some explosives right quick.... :D
