We got bumped for.....Pitbull?

Wow, that's a pretty stinkin' ballsy comment.
And one I would say shouldn't be uttered by you or anyone on TB really.

I can't access his myspace page from work, but I can listen to the tracks on your bands Facebook page....I wouldn't toss comments around like that.

And I'd watch the "Hack musician/professional event" comments as well.

Ok, so when attacked I should not come to my own defense? Yes I can be ballsy thanks!! Sorry you are so offended, but can you make a valid point?? Maybe deal with specifics?

Feel free to listen to what ever you want, I can send you some MP3's. And what's wrong with using hack/and professional event in the same sentence? Please explain, remember I am ******** ( that was you who called me that right?????)

Again, I am aware of my abilities and work hard at my instrument. And I have not once degraded anyone else's playing abilities. So not sure why you feel the need to call me out?

For what ever reason you took my original statement personally and decided to attack me. Sorry I'm not the push over you were hoping for.

Please waste as much time hating me, and my statements.

Metallica is old man. No one cares about them anymore. They did great things, that's for sure, but they're nothing so great now.

As far as they go, I don't even own any of their music. None.

Sorry buddy, but a band that can sell out tours worldwide 3-4 years after releasing an album is hardly irrelevant. Just because you don't listen to it does not mean its not important. I don't own any Beatles but that has not stopped them.

Voiceless, I don't think anyone here is offended, taking anything personally or hating you, it seems your the only one getting your back up over all of this.

And again, balonoy outsells steak. What makes you think in todays consumer environment where marketed crap outsells unmarketed quality every day that how much something sells somehow adds additional quality to it.

Bics outsell zippos everyday. There are far more geo metros on the roads than porsches??? I really don't get how you can make a firm conclusion of quality bassed on quantity alone....?

Care to explain?

Everythink I have seen in mosh pits fits what sloasdaylight describes. You want some REAL violence, step outside a country bar anywhere in Alberta after 1:30 am and it's just like going to the rodeo. Cowboys like to fight.

I agree there is an immature aspect to metal, even the metal guys agree with that but I'm not going to attack everything about metal because of the few things I don't like.

I don't dislike metal fans, I do dislike jerks. sloasdaylight and Burlington seem like great guys, I don't care if they dig metal, maybe they can teach me more about it.

A few months ago BP mag put some cartoon on the cover and said it represents "Metal" (murderface from metalocolypse or something like that) Well, inside they did a mock interview with the character and this guy is supposed to personify all things metal. Well, for those of you that read it you know what I mean when I say it didn't make the genere look very good. It was the most useless, stupid, unfunny thing I ever saw printed in any mag.

It very much resembled the attitude of the OP. That is something I think all metal fans would be trying to distance themselves from. And they do as we see in this thread. There are a bunch of metal fans replying here and VERY few are supporting the OP. Let's not label the group over the comments of individuals.

-eSmith.

Dude, thats any small town bar lol. Hicks just love to fight lol.

TIP: If the primary Group in your town are hicks, don't have long hair. Unless you like to fight :P

Glad you troll TB and pick fights.

No he doesn't, all you have to do is click on his profile and look at his posting history, he contributes in many threads and i wouldn't say he picked a fight in any of them.

You didn't even have to leave this site to look that up but you choose to make a baseless claim again? Why not make a simple attempt to verify what you are about to say before someone comes in and does it after you say it?

Makes you look..... Wait for it....... ********.

You prolly think I'm attacking you too now but if you have you mom come look at it for a sec I'm sure she will tell you it is all just good advice.

-eSmith.

But clueless to the abilities of others. Who told you your were any good? Or are you simply convinced all on your own. I personally don't recall anyone questioning your playing ability. In fact you rarely see that anywhere on this site. So why again is it you think you were attacked for anything other than praising someone for childish behaviour and then adding to it by suggesting a guy you never heard play bass in your life is somhow a hack (again, the assumptions you make clearly show you speak without thinking)

And by the way, if someone makes a critical statement about you, the first thing you might want to do is ask yourself honestly if it is true. You see, we are discussing how metal carries with it an aggressive attitude. Your arguing against this yet at the same time seem not to realise that statments like this:

(No, it forces your mouth open and stupid things to cvome out)

It Just shows your approach to others is just what people here are saying they don't like about metal.

If I was being an A$$ and someone said, "Your an A$$" I'm not being attacked, thats just childish. I'm being corrected, and rightfully so if I was acting like you are. The whole "I'm a poor victum" is just another sign of immituarity.

So... have... you... ever... heard... the... players... you... are... claiming... to... be... better... than...?

(slow enough for ya sparky?)

-eSmith.

Well I can take this as your white flag in surrender. And why are you defending the guy that is getting paid to not learn his material? Please explain?

And Yes, it takes a little self confidence to play in front of people, so Yes I do know I am good. Honestly I am not trying to turn this into a pissing contest. But when someone calls me ******** because they disagree with what I said, I'm not going to let it fly. Sorry.

And I think it does not take a genius to understand that music that contains screaming, and is loud, with angry lyrics is going to be aggressive, but continue your debate, let me know when you catch up.

Not sure where you got the idea I was defending metal. Frankly I could care less who listens to what. And again, you are attacking me. Read your post dude. I'm not the victim. I use words to fight back, just like this post.

Alot of that is hype to, i saw them when they came through.. They had backing tracks, i almost cried.. Their finale, big black balls fall from the ceiling.. Now i like big balls, but big bouncy black balls for a finale is ridiculous.

Way to not have a rotating drummer :(

Ok I don't care what he does with other members interaction, I'm sure he is a great guy, but he directed a statement towards me in a open conversation. And it was just a jab, not adding any information.

Besides what makes it ok for YOU to sit here and tell me that you are smarter then me, but if I say something like that its offensive? Ever get the feeling that the information you are sending me should be sent your way?

Yeah, can't say I will ever go see Metallica, but does not change the fact they are part of the Big 4. Not really defending their music, just their importance.

Alright Skippy.
I was being light hearted in my very first post where I quoted you with the "nutsack" comment, and addressed it as such.

But no it wasn't me who called you ********. And please defend yourself when you have to.

I don't recall him knocking you musical ability, but you went right there with him (maybe he did and I missed it- I could be wrong here). And yes, elevating yourself above someone else is indeed degrading them.
Especially when it's something as subjective as music and ability.
Offended?? No, but when I see crap spewed like "I'm better than you..." type comments made by anyone, I call them out. And you my friend should maybe relax a bit in that area.

And no thanks for the MP3's to be sent. I heard enough......just sayin'......

And the hack/professional comments....I would be happy to slam dunk you and point out where your lacking in judgment on someone being a hack or professional:
One of which is if you claim to be aware of your abilities you would keep your mouth shut and not place youself above anyone else. That's pro 101 right there alone.
Anoither is maybe requesting that your guitar player play in tune on a track (of YOUR band) that's posted for the public to hear.
Nothing more painful than hearing out of tune playing. And not much worse than maybe someone not even KNOWING when they hear it.
So, you wanted some specifics??? there you go.
No don't be a d!ck because I gave you a few specifics YOU asked for.

And if you would like to take a shot at my abilities, go ahead. I welcome it.
I don't claim to be anything of any sort, and please ask around, as I never placed myself above ANYONE as a musician. (unless it's Munij ;) )

It is interesting that on very nearly any other subject (save, perhaps, the value of CBS Fenders...) no one gets riled or threatened like they do if you question the culture/value of "metal". If someone started a thread badmouthing something that I care for... say, funk, for example... Well, I'd just shrug and move along... But not "metal"... no, the same guys who wear the leather and studs get all fired up and start thumping their chests. Very silly.

The funny thing is that the OP has pretty much bailed out on this thread... but at least he seemed to have a sense of humor about it. That can't be said for everyone participating...

Surrender? Not even close.

OK, defending the guy, lets take a much closer look at this than you have until now:

How much was he getting paid? Today it is very common that just because a band has a gig it doesn't mean anyone is getting paid so please provide us with this information you have that the rest of us here have not seen.

Self confidence? Where are you seeing a corelation between confidence and ability? some people are just delusional. ever watch American Idol? Lot of self confidence there, not so much talent. clear proof that talent is in no way related to confidence. So your self confident, doesn't mean you can play worth a crap.

We know the music is aggressive, does that mean you have to adopt the aggrissive lifestyle to listen to it or like it? Clearly from the better spoken metal fans here that is not the case at all, but you seem to think it is. We are just trying to help you see the light.

Well, your consistantly claiming a need to "Defend Yourself" on a discussion forum. I would say that is proof positive you are seeing yourself as a victim.

And one more thing, Again, have you ever heard the players that you claim you are better than?
