Wearing shorts on stage is unprofessional

"Wearing shorts is unprofessional" :rollno:

Another example of a universal blanket statement that doesn't hold up.

Do your gig, I'll do mine, they'll do theirs.

Not familiar with the band in the video. Full house, cheering crowd, works for them.
That's Jinjer - metal fusion group from Ukraine. One of my most pleasant surprises this year, wonder why I never hear them before.

I was like "nah sounds fine to me" then he put his foot on the monitor... You might need some eye-bleach if you're viewing from the wrong angle.
Hey, that's on you for looking where you shouldn't! lolz

I couldn't get past whatever that..... "singer" .... was doing. The shorts were not the most egregious error on that stage. :wacky:
Tatiana is a vocal goddess, she also does clean vocals as well as anyone, really a beautiful voice. But yeah, she does host an imprisoned Legion of demons in her throat too. I can't stand most metal growling / screaming, but I can listen to Jinjer all day and night, for some reason.

The "live in studio" version of Pisces is one of the best jumpscares since Jorah pranked Samwell at the Citadel in GOT Season 6. ;)

...wait for the chorus lol...

I wear shorts every time I play. Of course, I do wear pants over my shorts.

As I play church gigs, there are.... a few subtle differences between the video above and what I do.

Then again, the lighting isn't all that different:

Her voice is incredible.

I dunno. Depends on the genre, the crowd, the venue. If shorts works for you, great. When I wear shorts, PETA starts looking for the bird missing its legs.
For a moment there, I thought that was going to be a budgie smuggler joke.

Anyway, I wouldn't do it. Too many shorts as it is, it's all over the place like a weird public fetish, or maybe men started avoiding going shirtless because they thought people would think they're gay, so they started wearing shorts instead, or maybe it was supposed to be gender-nonspecific. It can't be about reducing risk of sunburn or skin cancer, it's the same risk if that much skin gets bared. Postmen here do it, in the winter, no matter what cold and rain prevails, and it's like a gesture that says 'I don't do gestures', and now it's more endemic than covid, and weather makes no impact on this at all.. How it all started, I have no idea. I suspect that on stage it's comparatively rare!

TB is the only place I hear about shorts being an issue. Around here it's standard attire between May and October for playing bars, breweries, private parties and the like. Obviously it doesn't fly for more formal venues.

Absolutely agree, it's not for every gig. Any time we're booked for "events" we ask for any attire requests.
