ok what is the FCB triggering? software or an controller ?

Software, I have everything broken out (colour/movement of all fixtures) and I add them together in a macro (scene) that is midi triggered. I like setting it up this way because it is easy to edit macros if you want to change one element. A few shows ago I noticed something in a scene that was off so I changed the fixture setting and saved it while playing a song; though the touch pad on the laptop made it far more cumbersome than it should have been.

***I have to correct myself on the usage of macros for scenes, I use them about 60% of the time. I added a bunch of longer set scenes recently and those are all programmed step by step, some have 100 steps to them. It was tedious to program them but I like that things happen without me having to step on a pedal.

I'm using chauvet showxpress, it works (most of the time) but I want to get away from it (chauvet) eventually.

I used Show Xpress for a while too but it was too unreliable especially when it came to the MIDI interface. I switched to DMXIS. It doesn’t do as much but it’s more user friendly and seems to be more reliable.

Yeah, showxpress can be finicky but I've had pretty good success during shows until a few weeks ago. Everything was working fine before we played and when we went on the fcb would not trigger. I spent the next few songs resetting the software and checking connections in between songs and couldn't find anything wrong. I had a guy we know run the show from my phone for the first set to get us through. Checked everything at set break: everything plugged in, midi signal, etc... reboot the software and then it works again. I literally performed all of these steps during the first set and it wouldn't work. I don't like not being able to identify why something isn't working and don't want to simply cross my fingers and hope it all works out

So what do you guys recommend for a good controller. Generally just lighting a small band..I have a few light panels and am looking at getting something like the adj flat par mega packs..

American DJ and Chauvet have some good, cheap entry level controllers. I used a Chauvet Obey 40 for years with no issues. They are pretty simple to set up and understand.

I actually went and bought the adj wifly ne1 and a pair of transceivers as well as 2 more profile panel rgbas

Just picked up a pair of Chauvet Gigbar 2's. Brought them home and hooked them up for testing in my living room. Pardon my Halloween decorations that we never took down.

We have a gig this weekend. Full test report pending.

Messing around with mounting my adj profile panels...I think I am going to drill in an extra pair of holes in the tube to center them a bit more. Took me awhile to think through how to get the angles I am going to want but I think I have it sorted now.

Took me some time but I finally got the wifly working..one light seems to respond slower than

the others though...

Yeah I am going to try to delve into programming some stuff today and tomorrow, so far it seems like a good set up.

I messaged the company about it on facebook, no response as of yet! I think this is exactly what I need for like 90% of our shows
