I'm gonna have to try all these suggestions
Put the bass on a stand, imagine playing the bass in your mind and the weight is zero!![]()
My first laugh of the day, thank you!!I just discovered that removing a jazz bass pickguard + thumb rest + screws will take away roughly 1/4 lb.
That is all.
Yep, and it's very important to remember that we are all as big a name as Anthony Jackson and we can tell everyone we work with that we either sit or we don't play, and bandleaders will love us anyway.just play seated. it's good enough for anthony jackson, it's good enough for you.
The best knobs for metal? None. Who knew?Remove the knobs and save a few ounces. 'Specially if they're metal.
I went with aluminum dome knobs for mine. I still need knobs, I wanted them to look regulation on my P's and PJ's, and three of them weigh about as much as one brass knob. The best knobs for metal? None. Who knew?
@JimmyM, on a serious note, I won't buy a heavy bass! The heaviest bass that I own weighs 9.2 lbs., and my lightest weighs 7.5 lbs.And yet you left the pickup cover on it.
Seriously, you guys goof on lightening up your basses, but it all adds up. Lose an ounce or two here, a couple ounces there, and pretty soon you get into "quite noticeable" territory.
You can ditch all the weight if you have "talent".
Switch to lighter strings at the same time and it's like you removed a 1/4 lb with cheese
