Also, we are talking about increments in weight of more than an ounce . . . as in some pounds. I have not noticed in this thread much discussion of sound, so you may unintentionally introducing be variables that enhance your argument.

I have one bass that I plan to keep in spite of its weight: a Fender-ish parts fretless. That bass just sings like no other fretless I have.

Nor am I afraid of hard work. I have walked up to a job of hard work and taken a nap right beside it. Many times.

Actually, I have no problems with lighter gear. What I find odd is weight has becomes the most desirable characteristic of equipment over how it's sounds. Also, how many will walk away from a great instrument over an ounce. To me, that's not smart, that's a compromise.

Some of us aren't willing to compromise! All of my basses are what I want in a bass.
When a person gets exactly what they want, the person is less likely to gas or get rid of perfectly good basses!

All of my basses have different weights, but they are all within the range that I deem acceptable.
