Weird post gig interactions

Timing is everything- About 15 years ago my band was playing at a club (a bit of a dive bar- that wasn`t sawdust on the floor-it was bone chips..lol) here on Long Island. We opened the night with "the boys are back in town" and exactly when our singer sang the line "if the boys wanna fight you better let `em" a major brawl broke out in the pool table area...luckily, it didn`t gravitate by us..never went back after that night..

Ok, another one: I played a short stint with a crappy blues band with a rock guitar player and an R&B singer. They and their friends were apparently into all forms of speed (drugs). One night at a crappy bar that happened to be on the edge of a very exclusive neighborhood a lady in a trench coat appeared at a table stage right. At the break just before the last set she motions me over and asks me to set down. She has a glass of beer in front of her and a glass of beer for me. See says that the last time we met I told her to come to the next show naked. She opened her trench coat to show me that she was indeed naked under that coat. Shen went on to tell me that her husband was out of town and that she had the spa heated and ready for us. I told her that I didn't know what she was talking about but she just kept insisting that we had done this before and that she was taking me home again.

So I was around 41-42 years old at this time and she was in her late 50's I'd say. But very well endowed (store bought I'm sure) and very well kept. She was trashed to the point where I had to wonder how she got there. Her trench coat pockets where packed with beer bottles. She kept trying to entice me with little peeps of here breasts. Any way I told her that I had a wife waiting at home to which she tried to appeal to my sense of adventure. Then I said that I couldn't leave my truck in her driveway with all of my the equipment in the back. She reminded me that I parked it in the garage the last time. While I was enjoying the flirtation and peep show I knew I had to think of someway to get away. Boom, BL said lets go, last set.

During the last set she was blowing me kisses, simulating sexual acts and showing nip shots . The bathrooms and back door were behind the stage, so she went to the back side to open her jacket to show me a very well sculpted and tanned body. My mind is now in the I'm being stalked by a crazy lady mode.

Anyway fast forward to the end of the night and as I was putting stuff into my truck she showed up to give me a beer from her pocket, flashed me again, tried to grab my hand then said she would be waiting in her car in the from of the bar and that I was to follow her home. I said ok then raced out of their like I was in the Indy 500. Never played that bar again. I think back sometimes to what might have been had I not been happily married.

I was playing a charity rooftop gig and a young (25 years old) girl kept screaming, "YOU KILLED IT BASS GUY, HEY BASS GUY, YOU KILLED IT" over and over as I was packing up. My youngest daughter had come to the gig and was helping me pack up. After about 5 minutes my daughter walked over and said "He did kill it, and he's my Dad. He's also married......... to my Mom so f... off".

I've never heard my daughter curse before. But it was funny that she was super protective of me.

My wife read this and says, "I like her!"

Well, I’ve had two...

During one gig, I was noticing this really hot brunette in a very tight jumpsuit checking me out throughout our sets. After the gig I was loading my equipment into my car and she came out and started chatting me up, saying “I thought you were the best musician in the band. In fact, I just left my boyfriend inside because I want to go home with you.” I told her “That’s really nice, but my wife should be coming out of the ladies’ room any moment. I hope you still have your ride.” She scrunched up her face and said “Your wife?

A few years later, I was playing a bar, and this guy who was obviously a friend of the bartender, and just as obviously drunk off his ass before we even started playing, was hitting on everything in the bar wearing a skirt. This included my BL’s daughter’s girlfriend, who was only slightly amused. He settled on the woman sitting closest to the bandstand, not noticing (or ignoring) the wedding ring on her finger. She rebuffed him multiple times, pointing towards me (her husband). During a break, he put his arm around my shoulder as if we’re old buddies and suggested a threesome. I suggested that if he was interested in continuing to be able to eat solid food for the rest of his life, he’d best not make that suggestion again. He continued pestering my wife.

After the show, as I was loading my equipment, my wife was leaning against the car. Drunk Romeo waited until I was far enough away, walked up to her and kissed her on the lips. The only reason I’m not sitting in jail on a murder rap is because my drummer and my lead guitarist tackled me before I could get to him. I told the BL “Don’t EVER book us into this flipping club again!”

At least 30 years ago I was playing in a pretty popular local cover band at a bar called Raintrees. Big room with full length windows all across the front overlooking the parking lot. All night this gorgeous hottie is doing the dirty dancing thing right in front of me. She was even rubbing certain portions of her anatomy on the PA subwoofer. About three songs into the last set she ends up passed out on the floor in front of me with her pants undone and her shirt half off. Bar security comes over to help her off the floor and all of a sudden a boyfriend (who hadn't made an appearance all night) shows up and...It's ON!. Girl, boyfriend and two security guys going 'round and 'round out in the parking lot and thanks to those windows, the whole bar had front row seats. It's hard to play and watch at the same time...

Then there was the bar that had a pool table up on a balcony type area above the dance floor. One night there was an extremely attractive young lady up there shooting pool in a nice, tight little mini-skirt...WITH NOTHING ON UNDERNEATH! I could see every bit of Christmas and right into the new year... Again, it was hard to concentrate.

“could see every bit of Christmas and right into the new year“.

I use the phrase “I could see all the way to Canada”.

I posted this before, as a separate gig report but here's a shortened version:

We were asked to play 90 minutes and to make the first half "mellow and acoustic" cos it was a mixed crowd and there were some older people. We went over well and a lot of our tunes had people dancing. My playing was borderline awful! I know which notes to play but for some reason didn't play them ... Oh well, no one seemed to notice nor mind!

All through the gig, to my left an older guy was stood looking utterly bored. At me. Did not move a muscle, just stood there. Could've been my imagination but I think he never even blinked for the entire 90 minutes. Just looked bored.

Near the end of our set, as we were rockin' it electric style, the sound guy's wife - now good and well drunk - stood right in front of me, her nose almost touching mine and making "rock" faces when suddenly she says: "My b**bs are touching your strings". I never before finished playing "Smooth Criminal" with such focus :D

I have had my fair share of weird stuff at gigs, far too many to remember, nevermind list :D

One that springs to mind is one summer when we decided to do a mini tour of all the bars and clubs in the area (or at least those that would have us). I think we played about twenty local venues in about 3 months. They ranged from tiny hole in the walls that wouldn't hold more than 50 people to ones that held around 400 to 500, and surprisingly we got a very good crowd at nearly all of them.

I was doing vocals with a hip-hop group (notice I didn't say singing ;) ) and we were very proud of the fact that the crowds used to be made up of all kinds of different people, not just HH fans. Form young to old (as in 15 to 70+), punks to hardcore metal fans, and everything in between, it really made for a great experience.

At the first show there was a metal fan with long hair and a Metallica shirt that stood right in front of the stage for the whole show, waving his hands and jumping up and down. At the end of the show he came directly to me and asked for my shirt (we used to wear shirts that promoted our stuff but were always different to the ones we would give out to fans). To say that I sweat a lot would be a huge understatement, so I politely declined, even though he went on and on for around 20 minutes.

At the next show, the same guy, same place, same story. And the next show, and the next, and the next. I offered him CDs, other shirts, hats etc. but his answer was always no, he wanted my shirt!!

It became the standing joke until after about 10 or 12 shows, when we were having shirts made for the next show, I had one extra made with the intention of changing into a non drenched shirt before the last song or two so I could give it to him.

Needless to say, he did not turn up to that show, in fact, we never saw him again!!

I once had a bar owner offer my GF $500 for our band shirt (last one) if she went around in a bra for the rest of the night. He drunkenly wandered away before she could accept.

Another night, was playing a rock club in Chicago at the end of the night when one of those women that sells flowers at closing wandered in. It’s too loud to talk, but it’s last song and I wanted to buy a rose for my GF, because why not? I made a come hither motion with my finger to wave her over.

The angry drunk behind her saw that and was really, really sure that finger was for him and also was a different finger. That took a while to sort out. Still took a rose home.

Played a dive bar on Long Island well-known for live music in my mid 20's. I turn around to adjust the EQ on my amp, and I hear someone yell "she's spitting on him!"

Thinking nothing of it, I turn around to face the audience, and the singer says, "yo, this woman tried to spit on you, what did you do to piss her off?" I'm like "what?" I look down and see a sticky puddle of saliva and beer a foot away from me, and look forward and see this 50 year old blond "local" type with saliva all over her face glaring at me with teeth showing and a man behind her pulling her back away... Again, I'm like "what is going ON?" So I check my clothes - no sign of spittle or beer.

So me being me, I spent the rest of the night trying to figure out what I mightve said, did, looked like, etc to piss this drunk off. I'd never seen her before or after... Maybe confused me with her daughter's ex-BF? Lol. That was about 20 years ago now, and I still don't get it. ;)

Beery’s? Sounds like a Mr. Beery’s type crowd member...
