this Carl Thompson doesn't look so crazy at first, until you realize it has magnetically interchangeable fretboards

Are those Novatone Switchboards? They were almost

almost

commonplace for a few months back in the 80s. Not so much "crazy" as "a clever and interesting solution to a non-existent problem"

I'm not sure who made the fretboards. It seemed like a cool idea when I first saw that on the CT site, but I did a little research on them and I remember reading that there's some problem with those things (though now I forget what the problem was).
