Well this is a new one - D'Addario OEM vaporware strings

My Guild Starfire II was delivered today. It's a beaut, Clark. It comes with D'Addario XL 45-105 medium scale rounds. Apparently, you can't buy them though. You'd have to put that set together.

The sets of 45-105 medium scale nickel rounds I found at a reasonable price are Ernie Ball Slinky and LaBella RX. I know the DR short scale Hi Beams would fit too. Dunlop only makes medium scale flats.

Of the above, I think I'm going to buy a set of LaBella to experiment with. IIRC they have the highest polish, especially compared to EB and DR. But any thoughts this group has are greatly appreciated.

(Yes, I'm still probably going to string it with LTFs eventually. The BEAD conversion could move to my Mustang tho...)

SIT Power Wound Nickels 45-105 do come in "medium scale" with 34" winding length (ball end to taper). Fret Nation lists the long scale sets for $16.95, so it's just a matter of emailing Jason (owner) at [email protected] and having the medium-scale set special ordered.

I've been using the PWN 40-100 on two of my long-scale Yamahas and like them a lot as my current #1 all-purpose nickel rounds.
