Wow .... Not making a good living playing jazz... an acutely stunning surprise !!

My thought on being a success playing. If you expect to get paid, you’d better be playing what the people, that you want to pay you, want to hear. The deal is most people can’t follow a 12 Bar 1-4-5 in 4/4, and or distinguish one note from another.

Jazz is a great form of musical expression, it’s awesome. I, a seasoned musician understand most of it. Most of the buying public however, doesn’t. Studies have shown that approximately 60% of people are pitch blind. And Jazz players are going to dazzle them with 64th note arpeggios with various modal scales and expect to get paid?

And I wouldn’t bet the ranch expecting starving musicians, the only ones on this planet that might know what the heck they are doing, to even cover their gas money to and from the gig...
