Welp, R.I.P. David Crosby.

That was my thought when I first heard the news yesterday. I remember thinking in the early/mid 90s that he wouldn't be with us much longer, but he made it nearly 30 years after his liver transplant.
He lived long enough to make some great music with younger musicians, with the Lighthouse band. Kudos to Michael League (and Becca Stevens and Michelle Willis) for making that happen.
Dang he sang like an Angel but was always plagued by his Demons. I hope he found his Peace!

Sad. Rachael Steele on Sirius had been saying the last couple of months that Crosby and Nash had been speaking again and were discussing writing some new songs.
Yes, in the documentary mentioned above, he seemed to only now understand that how you treat people matters as much as how many records you sell or how good a song you can sing.
He lamented the fact that most of the people who he famously worked with wouldn't speak to him anymore, and that he wished he could fix it but he can't.
His tale is as much about how not to live a life as it is about leaving so much great music behind for the world to enjoy.
Very, very sad to hear.
I was still playing guitar (preferred acoustic over electric) when I was getting stoned and listening to him (and peers of that time in history). I could drift off and get taken away with that music. Worked my butt off to learn Guinnevere LOL. So much good music either together with, or away from, CSN&(sometimes)Y.
I think my fav solo album would be If I Could Only Remember My Name.
I still go back to some of his stuff decades later for that nostalgia kick, occasionally in the right state of mind LOL.

That's very sad. I remember when the Byrds songs first came as well as the CSN and CSNY songs. Another Rock Great is lost. At least he lived a full life. 81-yrs old sure beats 27-yrs.
His firs solo album "If I could only remember my name" from 1971 is true gem. I highly recommend it. It's often overlooked.
There is a lot of great music on that recording and many great musicians from that era.
Phil Lesh and Jack Cassady are on bass.

David Crosby’s father Floyd was a well-regarded cinematographer, his work on High Noon with Gary Cooper being a perfect example…
In the mid-90’s, I went to a benefit concert done in Floyd’s memory at the Shrine Auditorium in LA that David organized on behalf of an organization that pushed for better conservation of older films in studio vaults, something that wasn’t a big priority in those days. Crosby performed, of course, along with Chris Isaak, Lou Reed, and Los Lobos.

I remember Spielberg saying that JAWS was in really poor shape a few years after it was released. He actually had to go to different movie theaters searching for old copies.
