Yeah... you can look at a lot of the musicians who have passed recently... Crosby, Beck, EVH... there's plenty of bad stuff you can say about them that would be true, without needing to make anything up.
Youtube is oriented toward generating clicks with tabloid-like, attention grabbing videos that are generally very low quality.
What did Beck ever do that caused people to clutch their pearls? He may have been a moody sod at times, with band turnover snd turmoil, but as far as I know he didn’t do anything heinous, or have drug and drinking problems that became a problem for other people.
I’m not singling anyone out but we’re skating on thin ice with the direction this conversation was headed. That is all.

Rest in Peace David. In March 1965 when I was 15, my twin brother and I were on our way home from a friend, walking east on the north side of Beverly Blvd. in the Los Angeles Fairfax District around 10pm. When we got to the corner of Laurel Ave. we heard music coming from the building. We walked along the building and came to an open door where the music was coming from. We stepped in to a short hall to see in a basement apartment, a band playing a couple of songs we didn't recognize. There were a good 20 people in there watching, including Gypsy Boots, who it turns out lived there.
A couple of weeks later, listening to the radio, we hear one of the songs. "Mr. Tambourine Man." Wow, we said to each, that's one of the songs we heard, it was The Byrds. Then a few months later came "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and again we reveled in seeing and hearing The Byrds and a song before release.

David said the only thing about the 60s he regretted was the drug use. Or something to that effect.
His voice was the secret sauce of the Byrds, and CSN&Y.

He would go down in history even if he never was involved in anything past this...the song that changed American rock and roll forever, complete with the bass slide lick that would become a cliche in other folk-rock records for the next few years. The first the world heard of the Byrds...Billboard #1, April 1965.
i saw croz in many of his musical incarnations, csn, csny, crosby-nash... and solo.
i attended the show in dallas (cardi's) the night dallas cops busted him free basing back stage between his acoustic and (never to be) electric/band set.
even at that low(est) point, the music was stellar.
with his many faults, he was a great talent with wonderful art to share.
big thank you to phil collins for his generous gift of medical funding to give us all more of david's music that would probably not have happened otherwise.

RIP to a man of great talent. Music would not have been the same without him. Can you imagine being in the same room the first time he sang with Stephen and Graham? Mindblow.
