What 5 string bass has the best feeling/playing neck?

any Lakland 5 string (since all but the DJ5 have the same profile).....some say US ones have a "better" feel....I KNOW my US JO5CS and US fretless are GREAT but I also know they are "special"....so.....just got done playing my Skyline (Imported) JO5 and love the feel of that as well!!!!

My pre-Gibson Tobias (actually, and pre-Gibson Tobias that I've played).
They fit my hand beautifully. There are others that come close, but that neck is home.

I prefer thinner jazz bass necks on 4 strings so when it comes to 5ers I cant find many cheaper basses that suit my hand. I go custom on 5ers myself.

Just got rid of an epiphone les paul 5 string with a baseball bat neck because i didn't like the neck. The tone and features were awesome which is why I held onto it for 5+ years. The buyer loved the tone and features as I did... PLUS the neck. He thought it was a magnificent bass. He said it was becoming his main bass over a fender V.

Different strokes for different folks.

Hmm, a thread on the exact science of neck feel...? :p

I'd say those that are not too thick, not too thin, not too wide, not too narrow, not too symmetrical, not too assymmetrical, not too sticky, not too slippery... for you :)

I like all necks I've ever played - my left hand is easy, it's my right hand that's picky.

If you've played a Lakland Skyline, You've played 'em all. They're done to the EXACT same specs everytime. The wonders of computers.......
And, they feel great! Other than that: you have my vote for Bee Basses, F Basses, Zon, Alembic, Peavey, Modulous, and Bee Basses....Yes...I voted twice for Bee. They're spectacular.

I also have a modulus flea bass whose neck I hate, and a modulus M92 whose neck I love! It's not just about brand... but really the particular bass, as well s the particular person. It would be hard to find someone who thinks the same bass as you is perfect... put 1000 basses out and 1000 people would probably pick 3 or 400 different ones as the best (some more than a few times.)

I'd say the people who admit to not loving them take *a lot* more crap here than the SX's themselves do. I know that from personal experience because I'm one of the few who've stated that opinion here (and yes, I *do* own one). All you have to do is hint that you don't love everything about them and SX lovers come from all directions to form a lynch mob. ;)

Regarding what's the best, you're absolutely right. It's a completely subjective question so there is no "best". Whatever fits your hands will feel just right to you. If It's your SX, then it's your SX. The tone is what I like best about mine but it doesn't feel too bad in my hands either. I'm also in the minority here because I sold my 55-02 because I just never felt comfortable with it. I wanted to love it and gave it about two years, but I just never connected with it. It's still my favorite bass out of all I've owned, it just sucks for me it wasn't right for my hands. :(
