Double Bass What about Prodipe BL21 Lanen?

It could work great! it all depends on your bass, strings, amplifier etc. I bought an Ovid TBone (DPA 4099B clone) It sounded fine. The issue is sometimes the small details. Their clip for attaching the mic to the

after lengths just didn't hold on my Evah Parazzi Weich's I tried a BPA rubber clip mount and it held just fine.

I've had mine for almost 1.5 years and am still super happy with it. No complaints at all about sound, and I've probably played 60 or 70 gigs with it. I generally just leave it on my bass all the time. The mounting system works great; the string clip is a very sturdy rubber material. I do wish the goose neck was a bit longer and the pole part a bit shorter.

My only concern when I initially got it was the thin wire and its connections. However, not only has it held up to regular use, it has survived many kitten attacks . I was playing outdoor shows every week last summer, so I put a wind muff on the mic and planned to just leave it there. I also adopted a kitten last summer. I now understand that wind muffs look exactly like cat toys.

Even the venerated DPA 4099 had to have a "gooseneck" extension added when they redesigned it as the DPA 4099B D vote. They just rarely consider that something that's ideal for guitar, violin and saxophone would have to
be longer on a Double Bass. DPA got the last laugh by charging and additional $75.00 for the Gooseneck extension by selling it as an accessory.

Can someone that have the prodipe could help me out and send me the exact measures of the microphone?
The capsule, the gooseneck... everything possible.
I need it to adapt to another instrument, and prodipe or the website didn't mention this, or reply me about this.
By the way, any one had troubles with distorsion? The SPL is high but I would like to hear references about how much can hang.

Thank You

Hi,
I'm endorsed by prodipe, specially for this mic, BL21.
It's really a good stuff, for the price, it does every things you need in a live situation, i found, it provides a better resistance, before the feedback appears, than a DPA.
In a negative way, the switch band start at 50Hz, so for me it cuts the low-end of my bass, it's well made, but in china.
His voltage it's 3v-52v, you can use it, with Headway, or any preamp (even the BL29 from AKG), or straight in a PA.
The best things to do, if someone is interested by the BL21, it's to write a mail directly at the factory, in France, they are nice, and they could send straightly the mic, and although endorsed some of you, guys.

I would like to chat with you about this mic

Using an electret like the Prodipe on a DB should never be a problem with acoustic sound level.
Another thing would be if you mount it at the flare of a trumpet.

Condenser mics have a higher voltage level than dynamic mics. So you might need to turn the gain down or in rare cases need a damping adapter in front of the next amplifier stage.
A higher phantom or battery voltage (at least 9 volts) might help with loud sources to avoid distortion and keeps the noise level down.
